Hey there.

So much going on...

In addition to ordering racial profiling and the abduction of people in the United States without due process, in addition to ordering the military occupation of American cities based solely on how much they support him and his political party, in addition to ordering the murder of innocent-until-proven-guilty people in boats at sea, in addition to taking bribes from foreign leaders while undermining military allies, in addition to ruining our economy in general to benefit himself and his court, in addition to threatening to use the full force of the government to silence any media, colleges, or universities that criticize him or his policies, in addition to all that and so much more -

The current occupier of the White House is now declaring people who were actually in the Armed Forces traitors for reminding service members that the oath they take is to the Constitution, not the president.

And more than a few Americans are complaining,
saying these sitting Senators should not be protecting
that same Constitution -
which is their job.

This is a plaque about the military oath at West Point:

There are, unfortunately, Americans so desperate for a leader who will tell them to shut up and follow orders that they have completely forgotten everything they were supposed to have learned in civics class, or what they took an oath to protect.

I spoke with someone recently who told me that the problem is the Democrats should not have contested the 2020 election - even if they'd won - because that just pissed Trump off, which made things worse. This person told me we all should have just declared The Loser the victor regardless of how the citizens of the country actually voted.

That's how far people are willing to go to support corporate rule. A pillar of the community, a military veteran of decades long service, took an oath to defend the Constitution, but willing to sacrifice all that honor and our democracy as longs   as it might mean a racist rapist con man cult leader gets another chance to run the wealthiest, most powerful nation in history, but maybe won't himself dictator.

Many Americans think this country is the land,
or its businesses, its individuals, or its customs.
But actually the United States IS The Constitution.

That's it.

The Constitution, the basic foundational laws and it's amendments, is all that holds this country together, and every struggle of definition or evolution or regression we go through is either an addition to or a degradation of The Constitution.

And standing by while the Constitution is shreaded -
no matter how many flags you wave or times you salute or tours of duty to did or how far you puff out your chest and weeping while singing the national anthem,
no matter how red, white and blue you think you are -

Witnessing a coup take place on your watch and doing nothing is the most UnAmerican thing any US citizen can do.

As some of you may know despite last year's great reviews
The Mime Troupe had to cancel our Winter production of
"A Red Carol" due to a budget shortfall.

Damn.

"A welcome addition to the A Christmas Carol’s adaptations.”

“Wonderfully acted and directed experience.”

“A fierce critic of poverty and social stratifications, (Dickens’) views are at the forefront of A Christmas Carol and perfectly aligned with the Mime Troupe’s mission.”
Broadway World

We are starting now to raise money for the production next year, and we hope the original cast will all be able to return!

But
We will be running our radio version again this December!

It's a little different from the stage version, so if you saw that one you'll notice some variations...

Like Tiny Tim...

Anyway grab the family and some nog and listen to "A Red Carol" on your nearest device.

And if you want to make sure we get to present the stage version again next year -

assuming we are all here next year and not in Canada -

feel free to donate to the Mime Troupe with a special note
"For Red Carol 2026!"

Also

Since my birthday is coming up
I am once again raising money for
the Mime Troupe on Facebook!

If you know someone who is all Facebookie
and wants to give to the Troupe in general

(you know, in addition to you giving for A Red Carol)

They can click here to visit the giving page.

And remember -
In these dificult times, with so much crushing down
on each of us, and our very democray teetering -

NO DONATION IS TOO LARGE

Thank you.
