As of tomorrow May 17th Thailand begins to open the majority of its domestic businesses. Fingers crossed we slowly ease back into normality.
 
Our offices were closed for approximately 6 weeks owing to the Covid-19 crisis but business never really stopped. Developers launched a number or promotions to bring in customers and it certainly worked, with our office selling a number of well priced completed units via the internet. 
 
We've also seen a large increase in inquiries from wealthy Thai buyers. They are well aware of the long term infrastructure improvements due for the region and see Na Jomtien and Wongamat beachfront properties as particularly attractive.

Also worth noting is the current attractiveness of property yields relative to traditional investments.
  • Pattaya property rental yields 4-9%
  • Pattaya, long dated developer rental guarantees (5-10 years) 5-9%. Often with free stays.
  • 10 Year Thai Government Bonds : 1.1%
  • 2 year fixed deposits (Thai banks) : 0.75-1.25%
  • 10 Year US Treasuries : 0.65% 
For anybody looking to retire in Thailand we always recommend some local currency earnings. Too many pensioners have had retirement ruined by their own currencies depreciating versus the Thai Baht.
