The closing date for this year’s Creative Competition coincides with the annual BPS outing – Wednesday, 24 June. This means that Unit 13 will not be open on that day for print entries to be deposited. Please note the following:
All PDI entries and PDIs of prints must be submitted via PhotoEntry by 24 June. Because of the clash with the outing on 24 June, actual prints may be put in the box in Unit 13 until 1 July.

PSA End of Year Print Competition |
Congratulations to Barry Mead and Vicky Harrison for their second position and to Richard Kay for his highly commended in the end of year competition.
You may recall that the print competitions are held over three rounds to determine the overall club ranking, whilst anyone achieving a merit award or higher position had their prints independently re-judged to determine the overall individual award. So achieving two seconds and an HC is a fantastic outcome. Well done.

West Coast Photography Rocks Ltd (BPS member Paul Moran) will be launching their first event on 28 July at The Mount Without in Bristol. This will be a fashion and ballet portfolio builder with 4 of the UK’s top models: Carla Monaco, Natasha J Bella, Erica Mulkern and Runway Voguish. The early bird price is £275 per person. As a special incentive Paul is offering an extra £25 off that price for BPS members until 1st July (making it £250). There will be a maximum of 16 photographers on the event, working in groups of four. Three groups will be for experienced photographers, and one group for those who are new to fashion and ballet (this group will be supported by Mike Martin throughout the day). Lunch will be provided.

Amateur Photographer of the Year 2026 |
 |
|
The 2026 APOY is now under way, with the first round already completed. Round 2 - Black & White, is now open for entries.
Last year’s winners, Plymouth, had 15 members score points by having more shortlisted images, rather than finishing in the top 10 in each competition. Against this BPS had only 5 photographers shortlisted across the various rounds and finished 9th – with the talent within BPS we should finish way higher up the rankings. But to do so, requires members to enter! So, let's get behind this and give this a real go.
|
|
Here is the timetable for the rest of the competition:
To enter, just visit: www.amateurphotographer.com/apoy and quote the FREE entry code APOY77410062 Just remember to select Bristol PS when you register your first entry.
So, now you've been given all the entry details, and you've got the talent and especially as it'll cost you nowt - you have no excuse not to enter!

Advanced Warning - GWPE Opens Soon |
|
The Great Western Photographic Exhibition (GWPE) opens for entries on 25 June.
Why is this important? Well, there are not many things in life that are free but entry to GWPE is free to all Bristol Photographic Society Members 😊 (unfortunately not distance members ). It is your opportunity to see how your images wow the selectors and start your journey towards the BPE photographic distinctions. You only need 25 acceptances for BPE1!
I hear some people saying, “I am not good enough”! Rubbish! This is one of the best clubs in the country and our standards are high. So don’t put yourselves down before you have had a go – it is FREE!
More information about BPE and distinction levels can be found at:
I have seen some cracking images submitted and doing well in our club competitions so there are no excuses 😊
Grab me in the club (carefully) if you need guidance/encouragement.
Oh, did I say it’s FREE!

Salon acceptances: Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
|
If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include them in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).
|
IMPORTANT: Personal Detail Changes |

you continue to receive your newsletters - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk.
The distinctions we have on record are those
shown at the top of this newsletter, please remember, if you don't tell
us we can't possibly know!
