Hello from snowy Toronto!

My, my but it is a chilly one here at home.  Skating and sledding require triple socks and snowpants, that is for sure.

Fortunately my gigs this month are all indoors so you can be nice and cozy while the music is playing!

Warmest wishes,

Shannon

February 19th at The Rex

I'm back at The Rex this upcoming Thursday February 19th!  This year The Rex has changed the format of the club from weekly residencies to a different artist every day. This mean February 19th from 5-7 will be your only opportunity to come out and hear me with the band.

What a band I have this time around!  I'll be joined by the amazing Matt Giffin on piano.  We recently started collaborating - what a talent!  Not only is he a jazz giant, he has also toured with Daft Punk, the Philosopher Kings and Mark McLean's Playground (alongside my debut album producer Marc Rogers!)

Laying down the bass, I have Drew Birston who was just recently nominated for a Juno with his band Sultans of String.

And of course, Tim Shia will keep the beat on drums - just coming off the tour of his new album release.

My daughter has taken a deep dive into the music of the 90's and 2000's which has inspired me to put together a few new arrangements of songs by the arists of that time.  Can't wait for you to hear them!

There you go - lots of reasons to get away from the cold in our city's hottest jazz club! The Rex is located at 194 Queen Street West in Toronto.  We play two sets from 5-7pm.  It is a PWYC cover.

Valentine's Music This Weekend

This weekend I have two gigs celebrating Valentine's Day!

Saturday, February 14th (the big day itself!) I'm joining the Swing Shift Big Band at the Palais Royale.  It is a gorgeous historic venue right on Lake Ontario.  The tickets to "Love in Full Swing" include a delicious dinner with live music for dancing.  Visit their website to make a reservation.

Sunday, February 15th St. Christopher's in Burlington hosts a Jazz Vespers - a time for reflection with love songs drawn from the American Songbook.  The hour performance is PWYC beginning at 4pm.  St. Christopher's is located at 662 Guelph Line in Burlington.
