Compota de Manana is a band born from the need to express something different, to represent something more than music and the commitment to the truth. As its name suggests, la Compota is a mix, a artisan concentrate, carefully crafted to detail and, of course, tasty!

La Manana is heart, it is soul, it is folklore, it is Cuba. Precisely in that country is where everything begins. Erik Castillo studied music in Havana for almost a decade, drawing on the culture of the island and its artistic representations in all its aspects.

When returning to Europe Erik knows C.Pardo, pianist and fundamental piece in the project. They coincide and connect with the same musical ideas and tastes, and decide to experiment and investigate, together with Manu Masaedo and Zeben Martín, the fusion of Cuban music with other modern genres that were familiar to them. They discovered that the timba, a dance genre that had been born in the 90s in Cuba, was born out of the fusion of genres that were current at the time.

In Compota de Manana we believe that nowadays the typical musical genres are becoming more obsolete, but if we had to say what we do, we would bet on La Alternatimba, something new, different, fun and full of passion. In fact, it is our reason for being, what we defend on the stage as if it were always the last concert. Compota    We are de Manana.     In order to carry out this project, it was essential to be surrounded by great professionals and, more important, great people.

Compota de Manana is formed by a crew of young and excellent musicians with a great international career, having shared the stage with artists such as Alain Pérez, Wynton Marsalis, Irakere, Paquito D’Rivera, Descemer Bueno, Jimmy Bosch, José Alberto the Canary, Giovanni Hidalgo, Larry Harlow, among many others.
