Dear Friend of PST,
We believe that everyone has a story that deserves to be heard. To meet the demand for participation in our work with story, Portland Story Theater now offers three different workshops: Storytelling Starter (two hours), Storytelling Bootcamp (one day), and the Art of Personal Narrative (five weeks).
Join us for one of these lively, interactive two-hour workshops on the contemporary art of personal storytelling. As participants, you will learn how to identify your stories and what it takes to share them with an audience. We will explore the necessity of vulnerability in storytelling, as well as techniques for bringing your stories alive. No performance.
Through generous grants from the Autzen, Kinsman, and Miller Foundations we are offering a free Storytelling Starter workshop to anyone who is 18+. This two-hour workshop will be held on Saturday, October 1 at the Dallas Civic Center in Dallas (down near Salem) from 2 pm to 4 pm. Call 503-623-2633 to pre-register. Space is limited.
The next two-hour Storytelling Starter workshop in Portland will happen on Saturday, October 15 from 1 pm to 3 pm and will be held at the Home Studio of Portland Story Theater. Cost $40. Preregistration required. Space is limited.

Portland Story Theater’s Storytelling Bootcamp is a one-day (7.5 hour) intensive, where you will create new story material, learn about narrative structure and intentional storytelling techniques™, and have a chance to share your stories while getting feedback. The next session takes place on Sunday, December 4 from 10:30 am-6 pm in Portland at the Home Studio of Portland Story Theater. Cost $150. Preregistration required. Click here to register online. No performance.
Art of Personal Narrative
Portland Story Theater’s Art of Personal Narrative is a 7-session workshop over 5 weeks. This workshop gives participants an opportunity to discover and craft a personal story and deliver it in its true form: naked, fresh, revealing. This is a modern take on an ancient tradition: personal narrative, spoken straight from the heart.
This workshop does include a performance and every participant will tell a 10 minute story before a live audience at an Urban Tellers® show.
There's only room for six adults (18+) to participate in each workshop. The 3:1 teacher-student ratio allows for a great deal of individual attention and is a reflection of our commitment to your success. The workshop takes place at the Home Studio of Portland Story Theater.
Call 503-284-2226 to find out more. The October, November and December workshops are already full but there is still room in the groups that begin in January, February, and March. Check our website for dates and prerequisites. All performances take place at The Fremont, located at 2393 NE Fremont in Portland.
