I've now completed my oil painting 'First Snow, Lower Black Moss and Pendle Hill', (above)
I often walk from Barley past the two Black Moss reservoirs and rarely see the water as still as this, but it's rather special when it does happen. With the snow covered hill almost perfectly reflected in the mirror-like water, I think it makes a satisfying symmetrical composition.
I’ve made the image available in two giclée print sizes on Somerset Velvet 255gms fine art paper.
The most frequently asked question
I’m often asked how long it takes to paint a picture; in fact I’d say this is the most frequently asked question. I've only spent about 6 weeks on the new painting (above), whereas my last painting 'Autumn on the River Wharfe' took over 6 months to finish. I’m saying ‘last painting’ but actually I’ve painted a few quick ‘plein air’ pictures in-between that usually take about a couple of hours, like the one below that was painted from my car. So it’s a difficult question to answer…It depends what it is.
