Artist's Newsletter
  December 2013
Hi All,

It's been six months since my last newsletter so I thought I’d keep you up to date with what I’ve been working on.

New painting

I've now completed my oil painting 'First Snow, Lower Black Moss and Pendle Hill', (above)
I often walk from Barley past the two Black Moss reservoirs and rarely see the water as still as this, but it's rather special when it does happen. With the snow covered hill almost perfectly reflected in the mirror-like water, I think it makes a satisfying symmetrical composition.
I’ve made the image available in two giclée print sizes on Somerset Velvet 255gms fine art paper.

The most frequently asked question

I’m often asked how long it takes to paint a picture; in fact I’d say this is the most frequently asked question.  I've only spent about 6 weeks on the new painting (above), whereas my last painting  'Autumn on the River Wharfe' took over 6 months to finish. I’m saying ‘last painting’ but actually I’ve painted a few quick ‘plein air’ pictures in-between that usually take about a couple of hours, like the one below that was painted from my car. So it’s a difficult question to answer…It depends what it is.

Calendar

Christmas and the New Year is fast approaching so I’ll mention my calendar which is produced solely for the benefit of the Pendleside Hospice Charity. This is the ninth year I’ve been doing this and so far it’s raised over £75,000. The calendar, which is high quality, is unbelievably good value at only £5. It can be obtained from Pendleside Hospice or their associated shops.

Kind Regards
Keith
