Our speaker next week will be Zooming in from Colchester and is renowned natural history (and other mediums) photographer, Roger Hance FRPS AFIAP DPAGB BPE5*. Roger will be presenting his talk "Nature in Macro".
He says the following about his talk:

This talk shows how I approach photographing the wide assortment of butterflies, moths, damselflies, dragonflies and other insects found in the UK. It also covers fungi, wildflowers and orchids, reptiles, amphibians. In the talk I show the equipment I use, and how I go about tackling each different subject. It covers focus stacking, aperture, depth of field, use of flash, and how to get sharp pictures in windy conditions. It also shows how to find and to get within range of easily scared subjects. In the second part of the talk there is a quiz where the members must pick out which one of 10 images shown was taken under controlled conditions in a studio set up.

The next meeting of the DI Group is Monday 13 July. This will be a practical evening, which will take the form of a walk around Montpelier, enjoying the wonderful variety of photographic opportunities the area has to offer.
We will also be introducing some themes and challenges in the form of a photographic treasure hunt.
Look out for full details in next week’s newsletter. As this will be a practical evening, there will be NO Zoom link.

Monday 6 July: 10am -1pm – We have a male model, Simon. He’s into outdoor sports so Mike is hoping he’ll bring a variety of different outfits and sporting equipment. All welcome.
Monday 13 July: After the success of the session on 22 June photographing backlit and rim lit glass bottles we’ll revisit this theme. Bring tripods, light pads, backdrops, and any objects you fancy shooting.

PAGB Interclub PDI Competition |
Following BPS' success at the WCPF Interclub Competition at Exeter earlier in the year, will be representing the region in the PAGB Interclub PDI Championships at Warwick on 19 July. To plagiarise W&G, this is always a "grand day out", a chance to see some of the best images in the Country and also to meet fellow photographers from across the country, and who knows, you might even be able to put a face to a name.
Ralph & Mike are going, so if anyone wants to "car share", have a word with either of them at the next club meeting.

Last Wednesday saw the judging of this year's Presidents Cup, which was judged by Peter Ottley LRPS CPAGB. The results were as below:

Wex Roadshow - Thursday 23 July |
|
BPS will be playing host to WEX and their annual Roadshow on 23 July. They are planning a series of 30-45 minutes talks on the hour, by a number of well-known photography brand ambassadors or speakers as well as a couple of organised Street walks in the local area. An outline of the day is available on their website though tickets aren’t yet available.
NOTE: Due to the number of speakers, etc, there will be NO parking available at Unit 13 so bear that in mind if you intend booking one or more sessions when tickets become available.

Epson SC P600 A3 printer - FREE to a good home. At present fitted with compatible refillable cartridges, which printer doesn't seem to like! Probably needs a set of Epson inks.
