Hello music lovers,

We're nearing the end of the year, but we still have a few weeks of gigs left before 2023 is out...

We wanted to let you know about a few of them, and share some other news.

UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS...
We have so many amazing gigs coming up over the next couple of weeks, including a number of Green Note favourites... but just wanted to draw attention here to a few that might be new to you, but well worth checking out!

Alicia EdelweissOn 13th Dec, we welcome Austro-British singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actress and visual artist ALICIA EDELWEISS all the way from Vienna for her first Green Note show. She started her musical career as a teenage street musician, where she began to play the accordion which became her trade-mark. In 2022 she was the winner of the Hubert von Goisern-Kulturpreis for persistence and talent, and she is amongst the selected artists for The New Austrian Sound of Music program 2023/24.

Itchy TeethWe are also proud to present the London launch show for SOLID GOLD TEETH, the Best of Itchy Teeth Vol. 1. ITCHY TEETH is a Margate based band – they write hyper-melodic, witty and harmony-layered pop that boldly tiptoes the line between sincerity and irony – if it’s possible to be heart-on-sleeve and tongue-in-cheek at the same time, they’re it. They sing about philosophy, pop culture, death and technology, challenging and critiquing it all through pastiche, humour and fun – their work has brought comparisons to artists like 10CC and Supertramp, The Flaming Lips and Weezer. Sound intriguing? Well, we highly recommend coming to check them out on 8th August!

Daniel ChampagneOther upcoming highlights include Green Note favourites DUNAJSKA KAPELYE with their irresistible mix of authentic Balkan and Gypsy folk, Hot club jazz, Klezmer and Tango (Thurs 30th Nov), a Green Note debut for Australian virtuoso guitarist DANIEL CHAMPAGNE who's been described as ‘the finest guitar player of this generation’, ‘a leading light in acoustic music’ and ‘a performer that must be seen to be believed’ (Sun 3rd Dec), a treat for gypsy jazz fans, when Italian Gypsy jazz maestro FILIPPO DALL'ASTA joins forces with Canadian singer DOM DURNER in this explosive collaboration (Tues 5th Dec), and the welcome return of US vocalist SWEET MEGG who mixes early jazz, blues, french chanson, western swing, and the occasional original into a cocktail that is completely individual yet has something for everyone - expect to hear tunes from Julie London, Billy Holiday, Edith Piaf, Patsy Cline, original songs and maybe even Tom Waits!

Mermaid Cafe ClubWe're also pretty excited about a special Xmas edition of the MERMAID CAFE CLUB on 10th Dec. Mermaid Cafe Club was founded by four friends who wished to create an event series where you could experience exciting new artists in an intimate setting. The events have been sell-out successes, with previous bills including Indigo Sparke, The Howl and the Hum, Siv Jakobsen, and Memorial. Usually held in our Basement Bar and limited to three acts, the Christmas Bash will be held in the upstairs space and there will be performances from the (usually silent!) hosts, plus special guests, creating a collaborative Christmas bonanza! Performances from artists including Kristina Karsegard, Elanor Moss, Wounded Bear, and more to be announced on the night!

These are just a few of the many fantastic acts we have coming up! More details on all these shows and lots more can be found on the EVENTS PAGE on our website.

GREEN NOTE HITS THE ROAD...
And a couple of shows at The Water Rats (Kings Cross), one of our homes away from home...

Beatrix PlayersAfter a 5 year hiatus, the award-winning BEATRIX PLAYERS are back with a brand new eight piece line up and an intriguing new concept album - they'll be playing on Sunday 3rd Dec. Sharing the bill with them is AMANDA LEHMANN - an international solo recording artist, performer, composer, singer and guitarist. After a musical career spanning over three decades, Amanda released her debut solo album Innocence and Illusion in 2021. The recording sees a fusion of prog, rock, ballads, and elements of jazz-blues, takes us on a journey through magical childhood worlds and hard-edged realities; emotionally touching at every turn.

Jerry JosephA couple of days later, we will be presenting Portland, Oregon-based JERRY JOSEPH - a prolific and accomplished songwriter, a powerful singer and a memorable performer. In his four-decade career; as a solo artist, with the Jackmormons, supergroup Stockholm Syndrome, his two-piece The Denmark Veseys, his beloved 80s cult band, Little Women, or most recently with Drive-by Truckers backing him, he has continuously toured the world, and released a steady stream of albums. His new studio album, Baby You’re The Man Who Would Be King was recorded in NYC and features a band made up of some of New York’s best musicians – including Charlie Giordiano of The E Street Band – and fulfilled a dream of Joseph’s to make a quintessential New York album. Uncut Magazine called it, “An album for the times,” and Patterson wrote in the liner notes, “Jerry, to me is a cult figure who could, in some alternate reality, have easily been one of the biggest stars in the world. One of the greatest live performers I have ever seen and long one of my favorite songwriters.”  This one is really not to be missed!!
