Rock, Jazz, Classical and Cole Porter -- enjoy Shakespeare's lyrics--and music inspired by him--at Richard Garriott’s unique Curtain Theatre on Thursday, April 21 at 8 pm. 
Words by Shakespeare, Music by Austin features a great lineup of Austin singers and musicians, including Austin Chamber Music’s Michelle Schumann, performing Mendelssohn and bringing along her toy piano, local soprano Susan Lubin performing selections from Kiss Me Kate, Austin’s favorite baritone Michael McKelvey, musical theatre talent Leslie Hollingsworth, pianist Dustin Struhall and a return of The Dream Band from last year’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, performing their original rock and roll favorites.
 
Guests will have an opportunity to bid on two wonderful live auction items:  an oil painting by Sandra Langston and a walk-on role for our Free Shakespeare in Zilker Park production of Love’s Labours Lost, set in 1963.  Benefits from the auction will go to support our Free Shakespeare in the Park. 
 
Champagne and light snacks make this a festive occasion.  Feel free to bring a picnic basket and enjoy dinner on the beautiful shores of Lake Austin.

Shakespeare’s Birthday Revel, supporting Austin Shakespeare and Shakespeare in the Park: Austin Shakespeare is bringing a slice of Elizabethan England to Central Texas. Austin Shakespeare pairs fun activities with the festive atmosphere of a birthday party. Kids of all ages can have a great time and learn about Shakespeare. Guests can learn to fence, discover a life-sized maze, hear music and play games all in a beautiful lakeside setting. There will be craft making, history brought to life, even a pirate ship--and of course, cake!
