Another Spring!

Hey Everyone!  Hard to believe another year has come and gone, but here we are, and another Spring!

We open to the public on Thursday, April 4th, and will be open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday every week until July 4th.  We'll be closed after the 4th for July and August, but will reopen Sept 1st through the end of Oct for Fall planting.  However, we live at our nursery, so if you'd like to visit with us at a time outside of our scheduled hours, just call in advance.  We're happy to meet with you as long as we're not away from the nursery.

As in every year, we're terribly excited to begin the season.  We have spent many days during the offseason, weeding, mulching, fertilizing, planting, and preparing our nursery for the season.  We're excited to see our lilies popping out of the ground, and many have appeared to have multiplied over the Winter.  If you're not getting proliferation that you want from your daylilies, note if they're too bunched up or lacking proper fertilization.  We divide our daylilies in early April or early Fall if there are more than 6 or 7 fans per cluster.  We fertilize our daylilies in early Spring (now) and again in early Fall.

This year we're further excited for a couple of reasons; we've added several new flowers, see below.  Also, we'll be registering more of our hybrids later this season (toward the end of Spring), once we confirm consistent growing patterns on many we observed last season.

Speaking of last season, if you recall, we were/are running a sale as we cull our varieties (those that are very similar to each other) so that we can focus on offering more of the popular varieties, and add new varieties and our new registers.  We'll continue to run that sale as long as supplies of the discontinued varieties last.  Check out our Clearance page for the discounted ideas.  Just remember that many of the discontinued varieties are selling out fast.  We try to update our website to reflect those that are gone, but sometimes things move quickly.

We're looking forward to opening day on Thursday, April 4th.  Many of you have already contacted us with plans to visit that first w/end, so we look forward to meeting you soon!

As I mentioned earlier, we've added a handful of new varieties for this season, please see the new varieties below and let us know your thoughts or questions.

We look forward to visiting with you very soon!

**Also, not a new one, but absolutely my favorite daylily.  I took this picture last May, and observed it rebloom at least twice more during the season.  South Seas is very prolific, doubling or more in number every season.  Additionally, it grows well in pots or in the ground.  Also, it is highly disease resistent.  If I could only own one daylily, it would be South Seas**

As a reminder, our nursery is open from 9 am to 4 pm Thursday-Saturdays for visitors, beginning April 4th through July 3rd.  We're closed July 4th through the end of August, but open again Sept through Oct for Fall planting.  That said, we live at our nursery, so if you want to come another time just call ahead, and we'll do our best to accommodate.

I hope you continue to find ideas we share helpful as you grow your daylilies.  We welcome suggestions, as much of our daylily knowledge has been gleaned from our daylily friends.  Feel free to email us at info@hemingwaynursery.com, with any ideas or questions.  You're also welcome to call us if you'd like to chat for a few minutes.  We always enjoy talking about the daylilies.
Other Neat Things
We are open at 3954 Hemingway Highway, Hemingway, SC 29554.  You'll be able to find us by taking Hwy 261 West of Hemingway about 4 miles.  We're in the white colonial and you'll see a yellow sign with a purple daylily out by the road.  If you'd like to visit with one of us at the nursery during non-business hours, please call our main number at 843-933-5675, or Lucille at 919-306-4329. We'd be happy to coordinate a day and time that works for you to drop by.

Also, when you visit us, make a day of it and have lunch at Scott's Barbeque.  Scott's is just down the road from us, and has won national awards and recognition for their Barbeque.  We're fortunate to have the restaurant down the road, and often rush down and grab a plate of Southern Cooked Barbeque.  Yum Yum!

Our Daylily Guarantee!  Don't forget our daylily guarantee.  Roycroft Daylilies are some of the most beautiful and hardy daylilies we've ever grown.  We're very proud of our daylilies and enjoy sharing our creations with our daylily friends.  If you purchase a daylily from us, Hemingway Nursery, we will guarantee your daylily for one year from your date of purchase.  If, for any reason, the daylily doesn't grow as you had hoped, just let us know, and we'll ship you a replacement daylily at no cost to you other than shipping.

Not Quite Everything? Laughing
The easiest method of ordering is via our website's shopping cart: Our web site's shopping cart shows thumbnail photos of every daylily that one puts in it. If you do not wish to order at one sitting just log out and then log back in whenever you are ready to resume. Everything that you left in your cart when you logged out will still be there.
