It's Children's Heart Week! Shout it from the rooftops!
Today marks the start of Children's Heart Week 2013! We want to shout it from the rooftops and tell as many people as possible.
Not enough people know that 1 in 133 children are born with a congenital heart condition. That's over 5000 babies a year. Each year around 1000 children develop heart conditions in the first few months of their life. You can help all of these children by shouting with us.
This year CHF are celebrating our 25th Birthday and whilst 2013 marks a year for us to celebrate it also gives us an opportunity to reflect on the work we have done and the work we still need to do to ensure that families are supported and our services are the best they can be.
We continue to be driven by the same vision that started this journey - Acting as the voice for and offering support to children with heart conditions and their families. The work that we do falls broadly into two categories - direct support and campaigning for support and services. But to say that is all that we do would be a bit of an understatement!
Each day this week we'll be focusing on a different area of our work, how you can help and how the work has helped heart families.
There is a lot to think about and a lot to do but this week we're asking you for your support to shout as loud as we can and let people know that it's Children's Heart Week.
A great way to do this is by getting your family and friends involved. Why not hold a Bring A Bear to school or work day or a teddy bears' picnic? Events like this will be happening around the country during and inspired by this week and are a fun, quick way to spread the CHF message.
If you can't run your own day could you ask your company or child's school. You could even start up a virtual picnic by changing your social media pictures to a bear and getting as many people as you can to join in!
Whatever you do WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE and we would love to hear about it.
"It was so funny when we had our bring a bear day at my school - even the teachers did it and we loved the certificate we got. Our school raised over £175 and we got a visit from Hartley the CHF bear!"
Good luck with your SHOUTING and thank you for your support.
If you want to know how else YOU can help just get in touch!
