President's
Corner
I had an email followed by a phone conversation a few weeks ago
with a woman who was trying to figure out her market. She stated that she
lived in a small city where she didn't think that there were very many note
holders and that because of that the note business would not work for her.
She was concerned about marketing outside of her comfort zone (where she lived)
and wanted some guidance.
I hear this dilemma often these days. The national village
is here, with newfound opportunities as well as a new set of challenges. I
believe the flexibility of having an independent career, such as note brokering,
can be an advantage in riding the waves of the ever changing marketplace.
Often, in the note business, that means having one foot solidly
in your local community and the other in the broader world of national exposure.
You must have BOTH local and national marketing methods working for you in your
marketing plan at all times. If you haven't already, recast your note business
so that you can tap into the vast cyber-world with your specific note purchasing
niche offering, while also providing the same service in your own local
communities.
If you are creating a website for
example, it is important that you focus on the specialized niche of note buying
that only you can fill that requires from you a high level of personal
communication and understanding based upon your specialized knowledge and
experiences. Because we are, in the note business, very niche oriented we
can attract note sellers from all across the nation. In my 22+ years of
being in the note business we have closed transactions in over 43 different
states!
In your local community you can be more
generalized, serving note holders and building your referral networks who
appreciate the hands on person to person touch of working with someone face to
face. A successful note business is one that thrives on both a local and a
national level. In today's economy, those who think both large and small,
national and local, will be richly rewarded.
Remember, Success Demands
Action! Keep on marketing, it’s going to
work! TWITA!
