Stop the Leith Hill oil drilling!
Hello and welcome to LHAG’s latest campaign newsletter. This newsletter is to update you about the dates of the High Court Appeal to overturn the Planning Inspector’s decision made after the Public Inquiry.
High Court Appeal brought forward
In our last newsletter, we told you that the dates of the hearing had been set for the 12th and 13th of November 2013. We have since been informed that the dates have been brought forward and the hearing will now take place on the 23rd and 24th of July 2013.
Second witness statement drafted
Following submission of our first witness statement to the High Court, produced in support of LHAG’s successful application to be joined as Third Defendant, our second witness statement has now been drafted.
This second witness statement is in support of LHAG’s resistance to Europa’s application to the High Court to have the Planning Inspector’s decision overturned.
The purpose of this second witness statement is to highlight to the Court some of the important facts that led up to Europa issuing its application; facts that help refute Europa’s claim that the Inspector erred in reaching his decision.
Our barrister will attend the hearing, during which he will present our legal arguments for resisting Europa’s application.
Although we expect the hearing to be rather dry to the non-legal ear, we believe that you will be able to attend if you wish. The Royal Courts of Justice complex is open to the public and courts are generally open to members of the public over the age of 14. If we learn that this hearing will be closed, we will be sure to let you know.
As soon as we know the outcome of the hearing, we will write another newsletter to bring you the news; our website will also be updated.
In the meantime, here’s keeping our fingers crossed for the result we all want.
