Shul Wide Learning of Tanach

In honor of Sukkot, and the recently donated English-Hebrew Tanach set on behalf on the Rothstein's, we are continuing our annual shul wide learning program. Men, women, and children are encouraged to sign-up by choosing a sefer of Tanach for independent study. The completion date is for Shabbat Chol HaMoed Sukkot for a siyum in the sukkah during Shalosh Seudat.

Our hope is to have every member of the Arzei Darom community participate in this siyum. In order to allow everyone to participate, regardless of their background or skill set, we encourage groups to sign-up together to learn larger seforim.  In addition, there are many wonderful online shiurim that cover the text of each of the books of Tanach, which can help you get through a sefer. For example, the OU has a series of shiurim, both on the weekly Torah portions, and on each sefer of Nach. Links to each series is provided below and can be used to get you through a portion of Nach:
You can sign-up in shul, or by emailing Simcha Borodach with the name of the sefer you will learn.
Please also consider sponsoring the siyum for this wonderful event!
Contact Simcha Borodach at simcha.borodach@gmail.com for details.

Chesed Corner

Toiletry Collection Drive  - Ongoing collection of full size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and bar soap that is distributed on a regular basis to community members in need. This is a year-round collection and very much needed. Drop off at the Stone residence - 578 Grenville Avenue, Teaneck - purple collection box located at the right side door. Questions? Please contact Gila -gr5thkid@msn.com. There will be a box upstairs at Arzei Darom soon or you can bring the items to Ellie Rothstein’s  home if that is more convenient.

Care One is in need of a few men each Shabbat so the residents will have a minyan. On Shabbat morning they often have to wait 15-30 minutes for a minyan. Chessed hours are available to those who need them.

We are also looking to restart the bikur cholim Care One Shabbat afternoon visits. Email Ellie if you are interested in a rotation at ellierothstein@gmail.com.

If anyone has other chessed ideas please let Ellie know.

Kiddush Committee News

While we recognize that everyone in your group may not be available each Shabbat, we ask that you pitch in if you are assigned in that month so that the same people are not doing the clean-up each week. We all make plans for lunch after shul so please be respectful of your fellow congregants by helping out during your assigned month if you are in shul.

June: Blech, Borgen, Borodach, Cohen, Darack

We also ask that you please watch your children during kiddush and place their finished items in the garbage cans provided.

For more information on anything Kiddush-related, please contact Holly Weiss at kiddush@arzeidarom.org.

She'arit Ha-Plate
She’arit ha-Plate of Bergen County, a volunteer, non-profit organization that collects excess kosher food from restaurants and smachot and distributes it discretely to people who can use it, is looking for a new site. We currently occupy a garage attached to a single-family home in Teaneck, an arrangement that has worked very well for many years, but the home will soon be put on the market and we will need to move. We are therefore looking for a new site in the Teaneck area. If you potentially have available space or know of others who might have space available for our operation, please contact Daniel Chazin, DChazin@aol.com, 201-835-5338.
