 Bulgaria plans to minimize landfills until 2050. A significant improvement in the country is that 37% of domestic waste has been recycled in 2017. During the following years investments will be forwarded to build installations for composting and anaerobic digestion, containers for sorting of bio waste, transport vehicles, composters, depots for delivering sorted waste, closing down and recultivation of old ladfills for domestic waste.
 
 Additional financing for increasing the energy efficiency of multi-family residential as well as administrative buildings in 2020, provided by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
 
• Projects for almost 33 million Euro will finance the programme “Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Energy Security” during the new programming period. Solutions for street lighting, utilizing geothermal and hydro energy and energy efficiency in buildings will also be financed. The beneficiaries can also be businesses, who would like to improve the efficacy of their own productions.
 
• The goal of the new National programme for air purity is to complete Directive (EU) 2016/2284 and lower the emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, non-methane volatile organic compounds, ammonia and fine dust particles (FDP²ֹ⁵) for the period of 2020 to 2029 and after 2030.
 
• Over 2 million from the Operational Programme “Regions in Growth” will be invested in building a smart transportation system.  
 
• The government has accepted a project of the National Program "Digital Bulgaria 2025", as well as the Road map for its fulfillment. The document outlines the terms for creating a new innovative digital infrastructure, using electronic services and increasing electronic know-how.
