Hi everyone,
We have garish news this week. First, we got to roam around Zsa Zsa Gabor’s mansion in Bel Air as part of the auction preview of a bunch of her stuff. It has a spectacular view of the city and it’s a great, classic Hollywood star mansion... so naturally it’s getting torn down in a few weeks. In addition to wandering around her house and seeing the bedroom where she was held captive, er, languished in her sick bed, I gasped when I saw the Louis Vuitton dog carrier. Yes, that one. The one her ashes were carried in for her funeral. (It's what she would have wanted.)
We also put in a bid on two stone urn statues that were by the pool, thinking for sure we’d be outbid. Turns out, we won and didn’t even realize it until the next day. Now on display outside the front door of Dearly Departed Tours are the Zsa Zsa pool urns. These are clearly pictured with both Zsa Zsa and appeared in Behind the Candelabra, the Liberace movie that was filmed in Zsa Zsa’s house as lay dying in the master bedroom (my gay just impoloded).
The urns join our other unique piece of Zsa Zsa infamy, the chunk of the light post on Sunset Blvd. she rammed into several years ago.
"Zsa Zsa Gabor... fighting for her life since November of 2002."
Zsa Zsa’s longtime husband, caretaker, kook, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, happily greeted guests like a grand poobah, posing for pictures and signing autographs. It’s so nice to know that he recovered after being kidnapped by that scary gang of lesbians who stripped him of his clothing and left him “handcuffed” (police didn’t find the handcuffs). It’s a miracle that he was able to call police (and the press) himself … despite his hands being bound to his car’s steering wheel. Wishing you well as you move on to new things, your royal highness.
In addition to winning the Zsa Zsa urns, Saturday was also a big day for our friend Psychic Medium Jill Marie Morris. She hosted another sold out Hollywood Ever After event at the shop.
This week we ran a couple Horror Movie Locations tours. Both tours sold out tours and we’re pleased with the success, so we’ll probably run a couple more in the coming months. Please keep a lookout for dates and times.
One, Two, Freddie's coming for you.
In other tour news: The Marilyn’s Hollywood Tour for this Sunday is SOLD OUT. Please look for more dates soon.
The Harlow tour only has one seat left, so if you want it, snag it now. (Fun fact: Harry Anderson, who played Judge Harry Stone on Night Court passed away this week. Jean Harlow’s photo hung on the wall of Judge Stone’s chambers on the show. RIP Harry!)
Don’t forget the Nasty Nellie Tours with Alison Arngrim. We have a couple of those coming up, include May 6 and May 20. Perfect for Mothers Day!
That might be it for the blondes but we do have a Doors tour coming up this month as well. This is a thorough history of the band and the LA music scene they came out of.
That’s it for this week. We’re always up to something so keep checking back!
Love,
Scott and the Dearly Departed Team
