Experimental Pop Artist CHILD Drops Evocative Debut Single "The Encounter"

With a passion to explore sonic territories, experimental pop artist Devin Coogan, also known as CHILD, is releasing his much-anticipated debut single, “The Encounter.”

Born and raised in New England and currenty based in Raleigh, NC, CHILD encapsulates what often makes alternative pop music so remarkable – familiar melodies and hooks, as well as a haunting lyrical depth.

"Prior to writing ‘The Encounter,’ I experienced a personal trial that caused me to deal with who I was called to be [as a creative & leader],” shares CHILD.

“Within an environment that presented hindrance, I found myself in the perpetual tension between courage and doubt; love and fear; faith and hopelessness. In pursuit of my calling, I confronted and then silenced these lingering voices of opposition [in my soul]...and I am now experiencing my breakthrough."

The video for “The Encounter,” which was brought to life by Red Meadow Creative, captures a physical manifestation of the world’s evils.

“Trials in life can make you feel stricken: hence depicting me alone; surrounded by a tormenting and hellish darkness,” explains CHILD.

“As the end of trial approaches, difficulties can often increase, as its 'final stand' against you. The video depicts this by way of touching a “light” — tearing the atmosphere open to see what had been unseen and proceeding with an inhabiting-force." The official video for "The Encounter" will drop later this month.

CHILD is one of the first artists to sign with AESTHETYK, founded by music industry veteran, Matt Ingle.

A shot of cold night air within charting musical trends, CHILD marries his gritty form of pop with hints of hip-hop, alternative, and indie rock - creating a fresh hyper-breed of music informally known as Experimental Pop.
