Hello! Yes, it is March already, times flies by when you're having fun and when you are busy with your note business. This month I want to address what I term Signs of Success.

As I was driving back home from dropping off my daughter at school to start my work day I say a sign on a car. It read 'DINGO JUMPER'. The brightly colored sign on the side of a car passed by me on the onramp to the freeway. It caught my attention.

In a tight and contracting economy, what better way than a vehicle sign to get your note business services noticed and possibly find some note deals while lowering your marketing costs.  You might be able to get business coming to you without any extra effort everywhere you go in the course of your daily life.  How many miles do you put on your car every day, week, month or year?

But Dingo Jumper?  What did that mean? Was it a business? If so, what kind? Were they breeding wild Australian jumping dogs, offering bungee jumping sessions, jumping dead batteries, selling a line of dresses, providing parachute adventures, training horses for competition or advertising a suicide help line?  There was a flashy phone number over the flashy graphics, but no website.  By the time I got through wondering what it was, the car had passed me and was gone.

Certainly, piquing curiosity, as this sign did, is vital for any marketing effort, but few folks are going to call a number just to find out what a company offers.  However, as I began searching the web and looking for vehicle signs on the road, I noticed they often exhibit the same mistake: fancy colorful graphics that tend to overshadow or bury their message.

There are striking exceptions.  One was a white Ice Cream Festival van with a fabricated strawberry ice cream cone on the roof that appears to be melting over the sides, with key info that led me to a great website.  Another was an old fashioned truck that belongs to Ruben's Landscape & Design with a small living garden planted on each side of the wooden truck bed.

A winning vehicle sign doesn't have to be elaborate or highly unusual.  The vehicle sign used by Agoura Maids is simple but has all the needed elements of a good sign: company name; an engaging, explanatory tag line, "Not enough time in the day? Call us for a list of services!" the phone number, and, most important these days, the website address.  All on a three color, 12 x 24 inch magnetic sign.

A vehicle sign is just another simple, cost effective way to keep your name out there and let everyone that sees your car know that you buy notes.  So keep it simple and attractive, send a clear message about what you offer, include a phone number and website, and a vehicle sign can be a great way to get a deal or two with little cost in either time or money.

Keep on marketing, it's going to work! TWITA!
