Sea Scout Leader Conference - March 16/17 2013
Warspite Ajax Scout Boating Centre, Thames Ditton, Surrey KT7 0XB

Many thanks to everyone who has already sent in their booking - you will have a separate email around the 10th February.

For those who haven't; should you wish to, we would ask that you get booked in by the 14th Feb (easy to remember!). The main email is below, but I can add some bits:

We will be joined by:
- blizzard survival products (at Warspite we really like the jacket as kids or adults can continue to row or sail in water activities whist warming up and they still have use of their arms). If you order online from www.blizzardsurvival.com and use the code "scout" at the checkout, they will give you a 20% discount.
- Unity insurance
- Kent Canoes
- Rigiflex boats
- Lindon Lewis - a distributor of Whaley boats

All of these are happy to offer long term scout pricing.

We will also have British Rowing, RYA and the BCU joining us, as well as the new Staff Officer Sea Scouts, the new UK Specialist Advisor for Sea Scouts and of course, Wayne Bulpitt.

In addition we will have details of how to access reduced pricing on Palm & Crewsaver centre kit. We have just done our first Palm order and it seemed to work well.

There is one area where we would like your help in advance. The question has come up a couple of times as to where and when are regional or national regattas with a good Scout content - be they externally organised or internally organised. If you know of, participate, or even better - organise - one, could you email scouts@warspite.org.uk with the information in this format (and the only two we are certain of are the Great River Race and the National Sea Scout Pulling Regatta)

Following on from the success of the 2011 event, we have developed the second biennial Sea Scout conference for March 16th & 17th 2013. The event is led by Dockland Scout Project, 14th Richmond Scout Boating Base, 4th Thames Ditton (Ajax) Sea Scouts and 1st Cuddington (Warspite) Sea Scouts.

We have built on the successes and feedback from the 2011 event to develop a wider range of activities and options.

Saturday 16th March

The principal conference. This will be entirely off the water and will feature keynotes, breakouts, workshops and networking opportunities. 100 places are available at a contribution of £20 per head to include lunch, note packs, bacon sandwich breakfast, refreshments and a copy of the Nautical Skills for Sea Scouts book.

We would ask groups initially to limit themselves to two places per Group, although they are welcome to add others to the reserve list. We will be joined by a number of key individuals and organisations, further details will be given over the coming months.

The day is scheduled to include Wayne Bulpitt (UK Chief Commissioner), updates from the Activity Team and UK Technical Advisor (Sea Scouting). We will also be joined by various representatives of National Governing Bodies; as well as a selection of afternoon break out groups.

The proposed breakout groups are:
