Mark 16:4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away -- for it was very large.
AN OPEN DOOR TO A PERFECT TOMORROW
The rolled away stone of Jesus' tomb is the door to a living hope and to a new life. Finally, Easter's rolled away stone opens the most exciting door of all. It opens the door to a Perfect Tomorrow. It's the door that shows that life does not end at the grave.
For centuries the country of Portugal had the motto: "Nothing more beyond." Their world was limited to the familiar confines around the Mediterranean Sea. They believed that to sail beyond the horizon, their border, would be to drop off the edge of the world. But in 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue and discovered a new world beyond Portugal. They were compelled to alter their motto to read: "More beyond!"
Easter proclaims that there is more beyond the grave. Jesus says: "I am the resurrection and the life . . . whoever believes in Me will never die" (John 11:25-26). Christ's resurrection is the gateway from our present world of sin and death to a perfect tomorrow. In His Word God says that in the new world "there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain" (Revelation 21:4).
This perfect tomorrow is ours because Jesus Christ paid off your debt to God by dying on a cross, and because he conquered death by His resurrection. He has opened the door to a life beyond anything you could ever imagine! But please do try to imagine it. Please think about it often. Please read as much as you can about it in your Bible. Doing so will keep you close to your awesome God. It'll keep your new life in Christ strong and productive. And it will fill you with joy unspeakable as you look forward to your perfect tomorrow. He is risen! The door is open! Hallelujah!
