We're excited to share another week of news & ideas with our MAiZE family. There never seems to be a shortage of ideas and the truth is that some of the best originate with all of you! So, if you ever have an idea you'd like us to pass along to the group, please just send it our way. Also, please remember that we'll be archiving these ideas on the siteowner web site, so that you can go back and view them whenever you like.
Idea of the Week...Your Walking Talking Billboards
This week's idea was submitted by Katrina Schumacher from Westview Orchards and is a reminder to be aware of whether or not our employees are happy and why it matters. The following message was sent to Katrina in an email blast she received from Innovative Media Design...

Point to Ponder: Your employees are walking, talking Billboards for your company — the good, the bad, the ugly.

I discovered this Truth during an uncomfortable conversation with an employee (who works for a company I whole-heartedly love) as she systematically pointed out why working for that company wasn’t that great… Now, imagine this disgruntled employee yapping into the ears of fellow employees at the company picnic, or spewing her unhappiness about your company to anyone who will listen…
How do you keep your employees happy?
  • Care – Whether you oversee 1 employee or 100,000 or more, Care. Look your employees in the eye. Ask about their weekend, their kids or families…You have NO company without them.
  • Communicate – I tell my employees never to be afraid to talk with me, and I mean it. Whether they need time off or an ear to listen, I find time to communicate. My employees know this…
  • Recognize – Happy employees will go above-and-beyond, take ownership of their tasks and feel pride in completing them to the best of their abilities…Never miss an opportunity to recognize a “job well-done”.
Bottom Line: Your company most-likely invests in effective advertising. Think of your employees as walking, talking Billboards for your company…the good, the bad, the ugly. How’s your advertising campaign going?

Reminder to Book Hotel at 2014 Haunt Show

For those of you planning to go to the Haunt Show in St. Louis next March, you may want to book your hotel early. Many MAiZE members like to stay at the Drury Inn & it's already filling its block quickly. If you want to stay at the Drury, now is a good time to make your room reservations. Today's Deadline to Win $120 in Krispy Treats!
We'd like to begin compiling an online MAiZE "Sample" Library where you can view examples from fellow MAiZE members in a wide variety of categories (i.e., advertising, attractions, etc.)

To kick off the start of the library, this week we are putting out a request for examples of your food menu signs. Please email a sample of your menu sign tokamille@themaize.com by June 6 and we'll post it to the library (watch for a link to the library coming soon!)

As an added incentive, each time we put out a request for images, we will try to also offer a prize you can win just for taking the time to submit your photo. One winner will be chosen from amongst those who submit their example by the deadline. This week, we'd like to thank Forbidden Sweets for donating a 24-piece assorted case of rice krispy treats The case is valued at $59.76 (wholesale) or $120.00 (retail) and includes free shipping! A big thank you to Forbidden Sweets. Their holiday and farm-themed treats have been big sellers at quite a few farms and you can get more info at www.forbiddensweets.com.

Vendor Info: Correct Link from US Family Guide
Information was sent out a few weeks ago re: special pricing from US Family Guide. The link to their pricing page was incorrect and they have provided the correct link below that leads to the special $299 rate for MAiZE members.
