DI Group
Next DI meeting is next Monday 13 June, to which ALL members are invited.

Last month we saw a variety of wonderful sets of images. Just some of the presentations were by Steve Field who knocked together a potential ARPS panel in a week, some interesting creative experiments by Colin Dixon as well as Mike Martin, David Alderson captured seaweed with all the colours of rainbow. Most fascinating was the travelogue by Mike Hall on the deserted island of South Harris in Scotland (abandoned by tourists after the summer holidays). It was an enchanting story of adventure capturing some magnificent images of the island and the sea out of season for three weeks without shopping or restaurants for food. I am hoping we will have a good response to show your images at the next DI meeting with whatever you may be working on or show your images for a constructive feedback. Your questions are welcome too or just come and watch.

South Harris - Scotland by Mike Hall

As usual please send your images to me by Sunday 12 June, by 6 pm. Images: JPG format, sRGB colour space, 1600 x 1200 pixels (same as competitions but not strict), prefix filenames with 01, 02, 03 etc. if you wish to show them in that order. Email attachment size - max 20Mb per email as many as necessary. I look forward to seeing you on Monday evening.

Workshop at Dorchester
An exciting event is being organised by Dorchester Camera Club, this is a special event with Sharon and Robert Prenton-Jones to be held in September. This is what the Prenton-Jones say about the Workshop:

The morning session will involve a live photoshoot where we will demonstrate the specific techniques used in photographing models for later use in composites as opposed to more traditional model shoots. The afternoon will be spent demonstrating how to combine some of the photos from the morning with backgrounds and textures to achieve an overall composite image. This will cover such aspects as lighting, colour balance, perspective and shadows. Although participants do not need to bring their own cameras or laptops, there will be a high degree of audience participation throughout the day. Fun, laughter and a unique combination of professionalism and irreverence will be the order of the day!

Nikon Day at Woburn Safari Park
I have received the following from David Grierson about an upcoming Nikon Day to be held at Woburn Park:

Join Nikon School at Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire. This experience day is specifically tailored for photographers and those interested in taking up photography who may be limited in their mobility or may use a wheelchair or a mobility scooter. You will have the rare opportunity to photograph some spectacular animals close under the guidance of our Nikon School trainers.

Follow this LINK for more details.

David says that "Whilst it’s aimed at disabled photographers it is open to all. You just have to get there to enjoy the day"

Trumpet Bowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue
