Psalm 8:2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

CHILDREN OF THE WORD

Summer is the season especially enjoyed by the children. There might be a trip to the beach, an opportunity to play all day with friends, and lots of free time! It's fun to watch the children enjoy themselves during these months. It's also the time when Vacation Bible Schools are often in session -- a time when the Lord Jesus can speak in a special way to the children.

For He loves them and wants nothing but to keep His eye on them and share His goodness with them. Remember the time he took the children in His arms and blessed them? He is particularly concerned that children learn about Him. He wants them to know about the cross and about His love for them. He wants them to know that He will take care of them and be with them every day of their lives. He wants them to know that He forgives them when they do something wrong.

The devil, on the other hand, hates these little believers. He hates them because they dismiss him so simply. The smallest child can silence the evil one with a mere Sunday School song like "Jesus Loves Me." In their young, childlike faith, they have not yet become entangled in the "reason" of this age. They hear the word of their Savior and they believe it without question, just like they accept the words of their father or mother. They love Jesus because they know and trust that He loves them.

Satan tries his best to quiet the praises of God throughout the world, but whether it be 3,000 children in India, or the three in your own household, we find the words of the Psalm coming true: "From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise . . . to silence the foe and the avenger."
