News In Brief
We have recived the following email. If you are interested, please reply directly to them.Stitch Project's Photography Calendar Competition

Hi there,

I'm writing from Stitch - a not for profit organisation that raises environmental awareness through the arts. We've just opened a photography competition that we think that members of your society will be interested in. The category for the competition is ‘There’s no Planet B’, and is up to the photographers interpretation.

The calendar will raise awareness for our planet as well as funds for charities.

Theme:

Stitch is looking for images that relate to the environment and that highlight how unique and special our planet is: work is to be submitted under the title “There is No Planet B.” This can be interpreted however the artist sees fit.

Charity:
20% of profits generated from the sales of the calendar will be going towards the fantastic work by selected charities.
Stitch is a not-profit-organisation that raises environmental awareness through the arts. Any excess revenue that is generated goes into a trust which gives grants and funds to environmental charitable organisations.

Process:

Round One - Applications
Applications should be made using the Stitch 'Application Form' (see http://www.stitchproject.com/Event/Current.aspx) by 12th October.

Round Two – Online Voting
Selected applicants will have their images put online for voting. During the last online competition Stitch ran, there were over 2,500 votes in a week. The fifty images with the most votes online will then go through to the final round.

Round Three – Final Selection
A panel of judges (TBC) will select images to go into the final calendar.

Sales, distribution and visibility:

The calendar will be printed and distributed through Stitch's network, online and through physical points of sale. Successful applicants will have their images credited, further to this, 30% of profits generated from the sales of calendar will be shared between the successful applicants.

If you would like more information please see our website and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions. I have attached a low-res image of the poster but if you would like a higher spec one to print out then please let me know.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Many Thanks,

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Congratulations to David Southwell who recently received a ribbon in the RPS Western Region Print Exhibition.

If you want to blow your own trumpet or, dare I say such a thing, blow someone else's trumpet for them, then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include it in the next issue.
