Psalm 8:3-4 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
THE CARE OF GOD
In these verses David looks around at all the Universe. He sees how vast and large it is, how wonderful and beautiful the stars and the sun and the moon are. He considers how small and insignificant men are in the midst of all this, and he turns to God and says, "Wow, You made all of this, of which we are such a small part, yet you remember men -- that is, your thoughts are always with us and you always watch over us. It is Your responsibility to keep planets and stars in their correct orbits, it is your power that keeps the sun burning and the earth from crashing into the moon, and yet you take the time to visit us and talk to us and tell us of all the wonderful things that you have done and are going to do for us, how you love us and send your Son to die for us."
God is like a friend, David says, who although He is vastly more powerful and infinitely more important than me, nevertheless never forgets me. Rather, He is concerned first and foremost about me and always takes time to listen to me and answer me.
