John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

WHAT DOES GOD WANT FOR US?

Jesus not only tells us what the Father wanted of him, but also what the Father wants for us. What does God want for us?

That is a very important question, one that folks should ask throughout the year! However, most of the time we ask a different question, "What does God want me to do?" We ask this question when we have to make difficult decisions. When given the opportunity to pursue a good job in another city, we might ask: "What does God want me to do?" When deciding what college to attend, we might ask, "What does God want me to do?"

If you ask the pastor in both cases, he's going to ask, "Is there a church nearby that is part of your fellowship?" You might dismiss that as a real consideration, but you really shouldn't. If you really want to find the answer to the question, "What does God want me to do?" you should really be thinking about, "What does God want for me?" The answer to that question is given simply here.

" ... this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life."

What does GOD want for you? He wants you to see Jesus and believe in Him and have everlasting life. THAT is what God wants for you, that is HIS WILL for you.

The answers to many of our questions and decisions become simpler when we remember the ultimate goal is that we remain in faith, trusting in Jesus. We strive to avoid those things which could ultimately undermine our faith. We seek to be near whatever could strengthen it. The Lord strengthens us to do just that through His Word.

We aren't an afterthought in God's plans. God had plans for Jesus and those plans concerned our eternal welfare. God made plans to redeem us and Jesus carried those plans out to completion. God has made plans for us, to keep us His own through life and death.
