William Earl "Bootsy" Collins is a legendary funk bassist, singer and songwriter who rose to fame with James Brown in the sixties and with Parliament-Funkadelic in the seventies.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 along with 15 other Parliament members.
He has released over 20 albums with various bands during his career, with his 1978 single "Bootzilla" reaching number one on the U.S. R&B chart.
Collins has collaborated with many artists over the years, including Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads, Deee-Lite, Del McCoury, Doc Watson, Mac Wiseman, Bill Laswell, Talib Kweli and Fatboy Slim.
He is slated to perform at this year's Bonnaroo music festival in June, and will release a new album entitled Tha Funk Capital of the World in spring 2011.
