Issue #203                                                                                                           Mid-August 2021

So... we've been having a fun time watching the Olympics here & rooting for our favorite athletes. You know, I always had a STRONG desire as a kid to be an Olympic athlete and its sad to think I'm probably too old now to fulfill this dream... unless of course I can convince the powers that be that the stockpiling of fabric could be elevated to Olympic status. I feel like I might could rock the gold medal in that event!  Laughing I know its a longshot, but while I dream & scheme about this possiblity, do go ahead get started on this month's edtion of "Bag Making is Fun"

August 2021 "Eye Candy"
It’s time for your monthly treat for the eyes & I really LOVE this month's selection of bags.
ALL of the bags pictured below have been shared recently on
(For LARGER images: Click on each individual pic)
Mandy Richter created a “Tribute” Sling Along! She used denim from her dad’s jeans w/a hawaiian print in honor of her Mom & sister, both of whom sewists who LOVED these flowers.

Alma Lou Annab made this cutie-pie Go-Go Compact for a friend for her to use on an upcoming vacation. Her friend is small & petite so this sizing is perfect! I love how Alma showed off her fussy-cutting skilz!

Jacqueline Boanier says this gorgeous Wrapsody will be a gift for her youngest daughter who just finished her 1st year of nursing school! Won’t she be surprised?!?

And I was SO pleased to find that I was tagged on this AMAZING Side Slinger post on Instagram! Jeanette Jay is the creator of this classy beauty & I LOVE it!
Jodie Denhardt said this OutBreaker was the 1st thing she made after a year of pandemic apathy! I’m so glad Jodie was inspired to get back into sewing by this design!

And you may find this hard to believe but here’s a Nancy Rosa bag that ISN’T a Sling Along. This HipBag Hybrid has still got that “Nancy Rosa-style” though doesn't it?!
Ray McCoy created  Guardian. for a wonderful lady. I love the black  embroidered Betty Boop on the front panel to honor the original inspiration for the character which was Esther Jones… an African American jazz singer from Harlem,

And last but not least, here’s Jan Pickinpaugh‘s Gemini Flightbag which she finished just in time for a fun vacation! Jan said that this design was just what she was looking for!

So... we're making preparations now for the release of our new pattern for Fall, the Elsie K Baglet, which is actually out 5th pandemic pattern release). All of the pattern components are at the print shop right now so I'm thinking we should be ready to roll in time for our next Newsletter at the end of August, but please bear in mind that we may actually publish that Newsletter a few days earlier than is the norm if the pattern components come in early.
In the meantime, you may want to check out these posts for more information about this pattern.

For your Viewing Pleasure- the Magpie Whiperer

Have you ever seen a Magpie? I've seen them in Europe but not in the US. Anyway, they're very smart birds & I think you'll enjoy this cute video. Laughing

GOING... going... almost gone! - the Odyssey

After many years of popularity, we're officially retiring the Odyssey, our first backpack pattern. As it turns out, I got a phone call last week from a customer who had a question about this pattern and gosh, I had to pretty much read thru a good deal of the pattern before I could address the question. That's when I knew it time to let this one go!
 We'll miss it but we still have some copies remaining, so we'll be letting them go at half-price ($7.00) for as long as they last.
Click HERE for more information about this pattern & to see WAY more pictures! But don't delay- when they're gone, they're gone forever!
And please remember that cannot supply support for our retired patterns.

We’ve all been there…That “wonderful” feeling when a slow Wi-Fi connection is crawling like a garden snail across your porch. Eternal loading screens. Buffering video & audio. It’s frustrating as heck. But as they say, to fix a problem, you’ve got to identify the issues. But here's a list of the 23 biggest things that lead to slow WiFi. {Click HERE to read more}

Sewing in the News- Daddy Dressed Me

Michael Gardner and his daughter Ava are featured in this cute little documentary about daddy/daughter sewing. Not many kids can say their dad makes all their outfits. Yet Michael Gardner of West Philadelphia taught himself how to sew so he could make custom clothes for his daughter Ava. Together, dad and daughter have now designed, created and absolutely rocked 200+ matching, stylish outfits incorporating everything from dresses, to jumpsuits, to pants and tops. {Click HERE to see the 60-sec video}
