Huntsville Town Hotline

In this Hotline:

Town Email List

I would like to make one important clarification as the implication was made that the town email list may have been compromised or "it may have come through the town's website," when referring to someone's email address being added to another email list.

I can assure you that no Huntsville Town email list address has ever been given to anyone, nor will it ever be.

"So how would my email address get out?" you may ask.  There are many ways, but if you recently signed an online petition and checked the box to allow the author to view your address, then your email may have become available to the author, who in turn may have assumed you wanted to receive correspondence.  If you do not wish to be on any list, then I would suggest "Unsubscribing" as most lists contain an "unsubscribe" link.

I hope that clarifies the situation and I appreciate your willingness to be involved in Huntsville issues.

Property Tax Appeals

We are hopeful that our September 8th Property Tax Assessment Night was a huge success as a crowd of 150 - 200 packed the town hall to have their Property analyzed, thanks to the help of 10 local realtors (and many more who have spent the past month or so donating their time to the cause).

We looked at a random sampling of 17 Huntsville appeals and found that the range of difference between the County's assessment and the Realtor's analysis, was from $21,961 to $377,241.

After ignoring the high and low, the average difference of the remaining 15 properties was a savings of $122,793 less than the County's assessment.

The total proposed savings from the 17 properties sampled, was $2,241,111.  We would guess that the total savings generated that evening was well over $10 Million, and probably closer to $15 Million.

Thanks to the Realtors and others that made the Property Tax assessment night a resounding success

At the risk of leaving anyone out, I would like to thank all those Realtors and others that helped to make our Property Tax Assessment Night a success.  If anyone ever needs a referral, I can definitely suggest any of these fine individuals.
