Greetings! Here are a few of our highlights this month:
FIONA'S STARRING ROLE! - My 14 year old daughter Fiona (who occasionally sings with The Mighty Manatees) won the title role in her middle school's production of the musical, "MAME". The show debuts at Pennfield Middle School on Thursday evening, March 7, and runs until Saturday, March 9. Showtime is 7:00 - 10:00 PM. There is also a Saturday afternoon matinee from 2:00 - 5:00 PM. As Fiona's proud father, I strongly encourage everyone to attend what is sure to be an amazing performance. I will be at both of the Saturday shows. ST. PATRICK'S DAY W/ SI SENORITA! - This year, St. Patrick's Day falls on Sunday, March 17, and The Mighty Manatees will celebrate it with a show at the celebrated Rising Sun Barn in Telford, PA. We will be sharing the stage with local faves, Si Senorita. Show time is 6:00 - 10:00 PM. A double band finale! RANGER WILL & THE GIFTED HICKS RETURN TO LANDHAVEN! - It's true! We LOVE playing at Landhaven! It is a former general store transformed into a charming bed and breakfast nestled in the heart of rural Barto, PA. I will be playing acoustic guitar, harmonica and accordion. The Gifted Hicks are Joe Rizzo on acoustic guitar and vocals, Randy Wagner on bass, acoustic guitar, and vocals, and Tom Mussleman on percussion. Please join The Hicks and I for an evening of funny true stories and original acoustic music in a warm country atmosphere. This is a sit down concert, not a dance show. New songs! New jokes! ENVIRONMENTAL TIP - Instead of throwing out old torn/stained t-shirts and worn out socks, they can be used as cleaning tools. This will help cut down on using the dreaded paper towel that not only wastes trees but is also excessively packaged in plastic.
VAULT VIDEO OF THE MONTH - This month's clip is from a benefit concert we played in 2010 for a Habitat For Humanity (Humanatee?) housing project in Germantown, PA. This song is a rarely played original of mine called, "When Jah Comes". MANATEES FUN FACT - Did you know that Manatees percussionist Tom Mussleman once smoked herb with Monkees bassist Peter Tork? It's true! Tom used to work at The Sellersville Theater and when Peter Tork performed there, Tom was waiting outside when the show was over. Tom offered and Peter accepted. Later, Peter told Tom that his all-time favorite version of "I'm Not You're Steppin' Stone" was by The Sex Pistols.
