S&B London Knit Crawl 2008... Worldwide Knit in Public Day... Sit-upon progress... Meetings galore

Fingers-crossed-the-sun-will-come-out greetings

We hope that this newsletter finds you well, that the grey weather is not dampening your lust for woolly news, and you are ready to knit up a storm (not literally) for Worldwide Knit in Public Day on Saturday 14th June.

S&B London are working up to the big day by getting stuck into our free Sit Upon pattern and spreading the word on the Knit Crawl. The BHKC has kindly featured us in their Big News, and we hope that you can all join us in showing the public your mighty stitching skills.

You can also still enter the prize draw to win the magnificent Breast Cancer Care Blanket on the big day by donating online here. You can also donate on the day or at All the Fun of the Fair, where the blanket will displayed in the run up to the Knit Crawl (pop in and see it, it's loooooooooovely).

Details on the Knit Crawl locations below.

In recent meetings the Royal Festival Hall was taken over with the clicking of your sticks, as well as the making of a beautiful carnival costume.

Then Ev was witness to the marvellous beginnings of some of your Sit Upons. These include a fabulous witchy design, a mosaic masterpiece and a rather thick grass creation.

You can see works in progress here if you are a Ravelry member, or you will be able to see all of the finished designs featured on our blog after the big day.

Speaking of the big day, here are the details....

Stitch and Knitting in the Public Eye

Knitting in public is something that us S&B Londoners take for granted, and the opportunity to show the world the delights of the knit is something we enjoy regularly.  Sadly, not every knitter is as lucky as we are.

So one day, a brave knitter by the name of Danielle Landes decided that this was an injustice to all those who knitted.  She wanted to find all those solitary knitters hiding away on their sofas and encourage them out into the world, so that knitting could be a social activity and the world could see what knitting was all about.

The result of her vision was Worldwide Knit in Public Day: an international celebration of all things knitty, solely organised by volunteers in all corners of the globe from Argentina to Alaska and everywhere in between, including our very own S&B London Knit Crawl.

Worldwide Knit in Public day is taking place on 14th June 2008.  All the details of our Knit Crawl are above and our blog will be regularly updated with the lowdown on this fabulous event. Be a part of the largest knitting event in the world.  We look forward to seeing you there!

That’s all we have time for this week. We hope that you will join us on the knit crawl, either for one stop (for those who have busy weekends) or for the whole thing if you are a hardcore S&B Londoner, you will be most welcome. News of who won the Breast Cancer Care Blanket (you can still donate to win here up to the 14th of June), the finest Sit-Upon, and news from the big day in the next newsletter. And if you can't join us then at least get out there and knit somewhere. Stitch and be proud

Till then, keep those stitches going.
