There is a change to the scheduled programme next week, instead of Andy Skillen (who has now been pencilled in for June 2024), we will be having a showing of the 2023 Cheltenham Salon of Photography, presented by Aleks Gjika EFIAP DPAGB
Sit back and enjoy their annual audio-visual presentation, showing all the winning images entered in the 2023 Salon. As well as the winners and awarded images, a selection of accepted images are also included. Look out for images from BPS members who managed to amass getting on for fifty acceptances between them.

DI Group (Clubroom/Zoom) Meeting – Monday 11 December, 7.30 pm
The November meeting in the clubroom and on zoom was once again well attended. We managed to squeeze in six fascinating presentations with discussions taking up the full evening.
The next meeting is on Monday 11 December. It is open to all BPS members who are invited to share their images in an informal atmosphere. If you wish you may invite comments on your images from your fellow members. You are also welcome to just sit and watch the proceedings if you like.
For the submission of the images I would still like to maintain the current system of sending them to me before the meeting. It allows me to prepare the presentation folder in advance for a smooth presentation. When you are ready, please email your images for presentation to reach me by 6pm-ish Sunday 10 December. Images: JPG format, sRGB colour space, 1600 x 1200 pixels (same as competitions but not strict). To show them in a specific order, please prefix filenames with 01, 02, 03 etc. Email attachment size - max 20Mb per email, as many as necessary. You may also use WeTransfer or Dropbox link if convenient, but I am not equipped to receive by direct transfers from Google or Apple Mac systems.

Photographic Society of America (PSA) Print Competitions - Round 1
We’ve got off to a middling start to the 2023-4 season.
Our rankings are as follows:
- Large Colour – Equal 2nd * with 98 points (leader has 100)
- Large Mono – Equal 3rd with 97 points (leader on 105)
- Small Colour – 5th with 94 points (leader on 98)
- Small Mono – 6th with 95 points (leader on 100)
- Creative/Altered Reality – 1st with 105 (next highest 98 points.
*I think this should be equal 3rd as there’s a tie at first place
We did pick up a few awards – so congratulations to the following:
- Jay Hallsworth – 2nd in Large Colour with Asian Girl
- Derwood Pamphilon – 3rd in Small Colour with Inverted Y
- Barry Mead – 1st in Creative with Alice
- Mike Martin – 2nd in Creative with Dancing with Fire (same points as Barry so counting this as a tie )
We’ve obviously got our work cut out for Rounds 2 and 3.

Other FIAP News:
FIAP Print Requirements for 2024 onwards.
During the Covid Pandemic and associated lockdown situations worldwide, FIAP temporarily removed the requirement for Print Acceptances in AFIAP and EFIAP Distinction Applications.
FIAP have confirmed that this temporary removal of the requirement will not apply for distinction applications in 2024.
This means that anyone who wishes to apply for the AFIAP or EFIAP Distinction in 2024 will have to meet the Print Requirements. These are:
- For AFIAP you must have at least 4 acceptances with 4 different images in print sections of Salons.
- For EFIAP you must have at least 12 acceptances with 12 different images in print sections of Salons. These can include the 4 used for your AFIAP distinction.
In all cases you can also have Digital Image acceptances for the same images.
The requirement for prints never applied for the other FIAP Distinctions - only for AFIAP and EFIAP. So those applying for any of the other FIAP distinctions do not need to have print acceptances - though it must be said that supporting Print Salons is important so that we can maintain the wonderful tradition of the printed image.

Salon acceptances: Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
