Bristol Salon
This Saturday (16 March) is your last chance to enter the Bristol Salon for free. To enter, just follow this link and you will be taken to the Salon section of the BPS website.
Entering is simple, just fill in your name, address, email address and image titles and then upload your images. When you have clicked the submit button you will be taken to a page where you can see details & thumbnails of your entry - check that these are correct and then just exit the system (click on the red cross in the top right of your screen). This page may look a bit ambiguous as its really aimed at entrants who will be paying, so don't go to the PayPal page or pay any fee (as a couple of wealthy members have already done).

If you have any problems feel free to contact me either by email, salon@bristolphoto.org.uk or telephone 07706 868638

Well done to all who provided images; we now need images for Round 3 which has a closing date in a couple of weeks. If you have any images that you reckon are creative, then email them to Barry Mead at barrymead@blueyonder.co.uk

The Most Important Lady In The Society

There’s still time to apply for the position of stand-in tea maker if Gill can’t make it on the odd Wednesday. I was disappointed to see that, so far, just one person has contacted Carol, but if anyone else is willing to help, it’d be appreciated. Of course, full training will be given and will include such things as switching on the water boiler, putting plastic cups into holders and using Beryl’s Spoon to measure out the coffee. Unfortunately, unlike the BPS competitions, certificates of competency will not be awarded.

If you think that this highly valued post is right up your street, please apply in the first instance to Carol at secretary@bristolphoto.org.uk

DI Group - 11 March - Notes
On Monday 11 March, Greg Duncan gave a talk on layer masks in Photoshop and how to use them for all manner of processes. Greg has now put together a set of notes which can be found in the Members' Area of the BPS website (see end of Newsletter for log-in details. The notes are then under Photoshop Guides.

Neil McCoubrey also gave a short talk on digital photo borders which used borders that were available on a free download. These can be found by clicking here

CPAGB/DPAGB Workshop
Following the successful advisory workshops run for the WCPF in 2010 & 2012, there has been great demand for another workshop. It will be specifically set up for those who have applied for their CPAGB or DPAGB at the forthcoming adjudication in November, which is being hosted by the WCPF in Weymouth. The aim is for people to receive advice on whether the standard of their images might be at the right level, prior to the adjudications for the awards. It will be fronted by Di Tilsley (the WCPF Awards Officer) assisted by Pam Lane (Asst WCPF Awards Officer) & the advisers will be: Sue Moore FRPS MPAGB, Bob Moore HonFRPS, MPAGB, HonPAGB, Peter Gennard MFIAP EFIAP/p , John Chamberlin FRPS MFIAP APAGB & Pete McCloskey, APAGB, FRPS, all of whom are PAGB adjudicators with considerable experience of the awards. There are tickets available for observers on the day, full details of this and of the event in general can be found in the attached document.
