"ultimately the album stands in euphoric, unrepentant denial of it's own title" Mojo

"Impassioned, sparking with energy and absurdly bouncy, it's a reminder of everything the North Carolina quartet did well - full-throttle drive, fizzing, Catherine wheel-melodies and buzz-saw riffs…." Uncut

Superchunk's I Hate Music is released today and the band kick off release week with the release of their Phil Morrison-directed new video for "Me & You & Jackie Mittoo." Including photos submitted by music lovers around the country, the "Jackie" video will require multiple viewings to uncover all of the fun details.

Mac shared the inspiration behind the song and the video: "'Me & You & Jackie Mittoo' is a song about bonding over records, & the role music can play in your life & relationships. We asked friends, family and some of our favorite record stores to collect photographs of people holding an album that is meaningful to them in some way -- not necessarily "favourite" though we're sure plenty of them are. Director Phil Morrison (Junebug) took that concept and shaped it into an amazing piece of vinyl-worship and music love, featuring the collected photos as well as a beautiful diorama by the artist Ann Wood."
Superchunk will kick off their US tour dates in support of I Hate Music in Atlanta on 22nd August, before heading over to Europe for their first full tour in over 10 years in December.  It kicks off with a performance at the final All Tomorrows Parties festival and will move into the rest of Europe - dates to be announced soon.

Order Superchunk’s I Hate Music on CD & LP in the Merge store. Also, the album is available for pre-order at ITunes along with Superchunk’s full catalog.
