December Memory Verse
Romans 8:31,
"What shall we then say to these thing?
If God be for us, who can be against us?

- A Savior Is Born -
(Luke 2:8-20)

Christmas is first and foremost a celebration of the birth of our Savior.

Jesus was not born to be a great educator, miracle worker, political reformer, or great example. Though He was all of these and more, He was born to be the Savior! What do Saviors do? They SAVE!!

Notice, Jesus is...
  1. A PERSONAL SAVIOR. "...for unto YOU..."
Jesus came to save individuals, not "society" or mankind in general. Salvation is given to individuals who will trust Him as their personal Savior.
  2. A PROPHECIED SAVIOR "...in the city of David..."
Scores of O.T. prophecies were fulfilled literally and clearly at the birth of Christ.
Jesus birth is unique, not only in His being born of a virgin, but also in the many prophecies fulfilled at His birth.
  3. A POWERFUL SAVIOR. "...which is Christ the Lord..."
The baby born that first Christmas morning was God almighty, the Lord of all the earth and the only way to eternal life.
The greatest thing in the entire world is to know for sure that our sins are forgiven, that we have received eternal life though our personal faith in Jesus Christ. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift!!

It is difficult to believe that Kathy and I have begun our 24th year here at MLIBC.  The years have flown by. We very much enjoy thinking back over the years and rejoicing in God’s abundant blessings upon our church.

I say it so often, but pastoring MLIBC is truly the joy of my life.  The members of our church are much more than just a congregation to us, but dear friends, actually, more like dear family members.

As we look back at the year gone by, we have many things for which to praise the Lord for. God certainly has been very gracious to Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church. We have had some of the greatest meetings in the history of our church this past year.

As we look forward to the year to come, there are great and mighty things in store!  Perhaps 2017 will be the year of our Lord’s return!

There is much to do for our Lord and the time is running short!  The laborers are few and the work is so great! Praise the Lord with me! God has given us His Son!  He has given us Eternal life! He has secured us by His power and love! Jesus is the one and only Savior! Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords! He is equal with God and is in-fact, God in the flesh, Deity incarnate! Regardless of our health, financial, or social standing, we have much to rejoice and praise God for!

Kathy and I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a blessed and godly New Year!

May the Lord God bless you and your family in wonderful and miraculous ways this Christmas season! We love each and every member of Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church dearly!

God bless you. Bring your Bible and a friend to church this week!

Sincerely, your friend,
