Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
THE MESSIAH'S KINGDOM OF PEACE (3)
THE PREPARATION OF THE KING OF PEACE
You remember how Solomon prayed for wisdom and understanding to be able to rule over God's people. God gave him more wisdom than any other human being. At first he used that wisdom well to rule God's people, but then he became full of himself and forgot he was there to serve God.
Jesus was given everything He needs to rule His Kingdom well. He was endowed with "the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might." We have all known people who have a book knowledge of a subject but they don't have a practical understanding of how things work which only comes from experience. A manager who has been trained in managing but has no understanding of how to work with people will not make a good manager until he gains that understanding.
Jesus received an unlimited measure of the Spirit of wisdom and understanding. Jesus always had the perfect response and action for every situation, whether He was being questioned by the ignorant, challenged by the doubting, or attacked by His enemies, he handled every situation perfectly. He also has the power and might to carry out His plans and purposes, even in the face of opposition.
Most importantly, He had the "fear of the Lord." He always remembered that He was here to serve His heavenly Father and do His will. The peace that we have in the Kingdom of the Messiah is first and foremost the peace that comes from having Jesus as our King. He knows how to rule His kingdom. He knows how best to deal with each of us.
Jesus knows how to care for us in every need. He truly knows and understands our needs. He understands our weaknesses and our struggles because He lived our life as a true human being. He knows our temptations because He was tempted in all points as we are, yet was without sin (Hebrews 4:15). And He has all the wisdom of God. We always only see part of the picture, even in our own lives. We think we know what is good for us, but He truly knows what is best. What peace we have in being able to entrust our lives into His care!
