The NPCC has been collecting information on Native Plant Finder resources throughout the country. These online databases are essential tools in the effort to encourage everyone, no matter their knowledge, to help save, restore and expand native plant communities.
This Native Plant Finder program from Virginia offers resources on:
• The benefits of native plants
• Native vs. alien plant species
• How to buy and grow natives in Virginia
• Virginia physiographic provinces
• A Virginia Native Plant Finder – to help identify appropriate plants for each project and location
• And more…
This Native Plant information project is the result of a collaboration between the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Virginia Native Plant Society.
Similar online native plant resources have been developed in other states, e.g. :

The VA project was made possible by a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the Department of Environmental Quality's VA Coastal Program. Funds were also contributed by the Virginia Nurserymen's Association, the Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.
