AUGUST WILSON CENTER TO ANNOUNCE NEW SEASON AND $100,000 SEASON SPONSORSHIP FROM CHUCK SANDERS CHARITIES
Pittsburgh, PA – July 18, 2012 – On July 19 at 1:00 pm, the August Wilson Center for African American Culture will announce programming and receive a $100,000 sponsorship from Chuck Sanders Charities for the 2012 – 2013 season.
The August Wilson Center for African American Culture is pleased to announce its 2012-13 season programming. A thrilling mix of dance, music, theatre and visual arts, the August Wilson Centerʼs new season will offer audiences a vast variety of art in four artistic disciplines. Proudly boasting locally and nationally noted talent, The Center's new season will be filled with new and exciting works. With focus shifted to four artistic pillars: music, dance, theatre and visual arts, the August Wilson Center is moving forward with its mission to preserve, present, interpret, celebrate and shape the art, culture and history of African Americans utilizing the rich history, legacy and culture of African Americans from Western Pennsylvania as a foundation.
During the 12/13 season presentation, Chuck Sanders Charities will present The Center with a $100,000 check for season sponsorship. Quickly becoming a staple of Pittsburgh's philanthropic community through involvement and contributions, Chuck Sanders Charities has assisted many local programs and organizations including the Hill House Association and Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise. In addition to providing oversight to Chuck Sanders Charities, Mr. Sanders serves as CEO of Urban Lending Solutions which has been named in the Top 100 list of largest black owned businesses in the United States four straight years and has been named as one of the top 10 black entrepreneurs by Black Enterprise Magazine. Mr. Sanders latest project the Savoy Restaurant and Lounge continues his pattern of philanthropy by donating part of its profits to local non-profits and churches.
