Sooner Tea Party Leader Al Gerhart
to Speak at the High noon club Luncheon on Monday

Our own Sooner Tea Party Co Founder Al Gerhart will be the guest speaker at tomorrow’s High Noon Club lunch meeting at H & H Gun Club in Oklahoma City.  The topic will be the two year and seven month illegal prosecution for blackmail, why it happened, who was behind the vicious attack, and what the ruling means to grassroots activists and average citizens.

There is a really good café on site that serves a wide variety of grilled food, you can order your food in advance, usually takes ten minutes to cook, and they will give you a buzzer to let you know your order is ready.   Bring your meal into the meeting if you wish although meal purchase is entirely voluntary.

The meeting starts promptly at 12:00 noon and usually runs till 1:30.    To get there exit I-40 at Meridian, go North one block to the first street that turns East (left) and when you get to the dead end turn back South (right) and the road will meander back along the side of I-40.    They have a huge variety of guns and archery equipment as well as gun smith work, a shooting range, and even reloading equipment.

A Quitter and a Loser

Last week we saw a wonderful case of political suicide as former Vice Chair Estella Hernandez packed up her toys and went home.  That’s right, after all the machinations and backstabbing to get into Republican leadership she just up and quit less than a third of the way through her term.

Estella Hernandez you will remember is the very nice looking (on the outside) woman that started attacking the popularly elected state chairman of the GOP right after she was elected, banking on taking him down and putting her skinny butt into his place.   Along the way she got caught lying about Randy Brogdon, claiming she was belittled and yelled at when in fact the tape of the meeting proved just the opposite.  After being busted on a live radio program when the two hosts told her that there was a tape and they had listened to it she didn’t miss a beat and spun like a top trying to get the mud off her political skirts.

Then in the week before the special GOP election to elect a replacement GOP chairman old Estella got caught working illegal aliens on one of her job sites.    The Sooner Tea Party published both the tape of her belittling and being shrill at Randy Brogdon, who was her superior at the time, and the video of her husband chuckling as a private investigator tried to talk to one of his fresh out of the Rio Grande River workers that couldn’t speak a lick of English othere than “No!  No!  No English!!!”

That led to a horribly embarrassing butt whipping at the special election.  Estella took about 30 supporters up on stage with her when she gave her speech before the vote.  The other woman had two supporters.   Yet the vote was so lopsided that Estella’s supporters convinced her to throw in the towel as the Hubbard supporters would never support Estella and even if they did they couldn’t win.

Poor Estella!   She hated Pam Pollard, the winner of the election, and now she had to work under Pam!
So it was no surprise that Estella bailed.   She ran for Vice Chair of the GOP not to serve but to further her political ambitions and her character caught up with her  and the GOP turned against her.  You know it is hard on the aging beauty queens out there when the time comes that their looks and a butt wiggle will no longer open doors for them.

Now the strange part is that OCPA hired the loser.    It is beyond belief that they have any use for an ill tempered, overly ambitious, and untrustworthy woman.   Are they thinking that they can clean her up?   Make her smarter?   Somehow erase the tons and tons of horrible reputation that she left in her tumultuous wake?   The second they try to run this witch (darned b key isn’t working for some reason) the knives will come out from both the grassroots and the RINO GOP members and Estella will have the rest of her public persona shredded in very short order.

The only possible use for her is that the OCPA thinks they can put some big money behind her so the GOP organization isn’t needed and count on her checkered past not making it out to the voters in a primary.   There were whispers of her running for Lt. Governor last summer but you can count on her opponents making Estella’s horrible reputation a major point in their counter campaigns.

But now the Oklahoma GOP must spend thousands of dollars and ask the 77 counties to once more send their leaders to Oklahoma City or Tulsa to attend another election.  Way to make friends and influence people Estella.  But you can bet that Pam Pollard is still grinning over this.

Tax and Spend Liberals set to Kill Oklahoma Jobs
By the Watchman

We’ll begin this story with a quote from a Democratic President who wisely said “Every dollar released from taxation that is spent or invested will help create a new job and a new salary.” That is a quote from President John F. Kennedy. It’s a far cry from what the leaders of either party believes today. Both parties seem to be in the tax and spend mode. They fail to see that they are both on the path of bankrupting this state and this nation. As an example a proposal this year is to change the amount of money placed into the states “Rainy Day” fund from 15% to 14% of our states income. A 1% decrease while most, if not all other agencies see a 3% or higher decrease in funding. Shouldn’t the “Rainy Day “fund is treated equally?

The first item of interest we found was this The Okie » Steve Fair: Boren Education Sales Tax Is A Bad Idea! . This article list three prime examples for why this proposal is bad for Oklahoma. First is that we pay enough sales tax with a national tax ranking organization ranking us as one of the top five in the nation. Secondly there is no guaranty that it will improve education. Third it was tried in Arkansas and failed.

We know of one other reason that this proposal was premature. The next article of interest we found was this Legislators to Review State Tax Breaks | Oklahoma Watch. This article indicates that the first tax break issued by law in the state was to Civil War Veterans and their widows in 1911. Today that number has grown to over four hundred and eighty tax credits given each year and each year legislators want more. They even gave a tax credit to Venture Capital Formation that is costing this state forty-eight million dollars a year. Unofficial estimates by the Oklahoma Tax Commission, they don’t keep exact records, place the amount of tax credits at the annual rate of five billion dollars a year. Our annual state budget is only six and a half billion dollars a year. This calls into question the justification of a sales tax increase.

The next article of interest we found was this Oklahoma Supreme Court OKs vote on penny education tax | KFOR.com. In what many believe was an un-Constitutional decision, the Oklahoma State Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision ruled the Initiative Petition No. 403, which is the petition to get a one cent sales tax increase onto the November ballot was legal. Tax and Spend liberal David Boren claims it was correct yet; he disavows any part he may have had in creating the problem to begin with. We can’t help but wonder how much of this would go to fatten his pay check.

We found this next article to be disturbing Oklahoma Watch: Penny increase would make Oklahoma No. 1 in sales taxes | News OK . It was bad enough that the citizens of Oklahoma were already paying the fifth highest sales taxes in the nation, but it seems that since the University of Oklahoma President can’t get to number one any other way; he’ll make us number one in paying sales taxes. I would bet he would like us to thank him for all the job loses that this move will cost too. Wait a minute, he’s a tax and spend liberal and could care less about the little people who pay his salary.

This next article we found particularly interesting Oklahoma city leaders' concerns about proposed 1-cent tax increase are notable | News OK. It appears that Mr. Boren’s proposal has even raised the concerns of the Governments of Oklahoma City and Tulsa. What would these increased taxes mean to the development of the metropolitan areas? Could this bring an end to the hugely successful Oklahoma City MAPS projects? This begs us to ask if Mr. Boren’s concern is really for the state of Oklahoma. It sure doesn’t seem so.
The next article of interest we found was this Oklahoma Watch: Education tax increase would cost average family $262 | News OK. Now we know this doesn’t seem to be like a lot of money, but its money that is not necessary. Oklahomans shouldn’t be paying any taxes at all. Our elected leaders have conspired with special interest groups to grow the size of government and give tax breaks to the big companies who don’t need them. There is one simple reason they do it too. It’s to stay in power. They decide the winners and losers for donations from the winners.

The next article of interest we found was this Education groups file brief supporting proposed sales-tax increase in Oklahoma - Tulsa World: Capitol Report. There is nothing unusual about this report. We would expect Education groups, mostly unions, to support the proposal because they would see a five thousand dollar pay raise. We would be in agreement with the fact that our teachers are in need of a pay raise, but we also maintain there are better ways for them to get it. In fact there are about five billion dollars a year in better ways for them to get it. We feel the Oklahoma State Supreme Court errored in its decision by allowing the log rolling of two questions in this one petition. Most citizens will agree that teachers are in need of a pay raise and that is asked in this petition, but at the same time they are being asked to raise their own taxes by one cent on the dollar. Those are indeed two different questions.

This next article goes onto a little more detail about the distribution of funds from the tax increase.
Group hopes for sales tax increase to address teacher pay, shortage | Oklahoma City - OKC - KOCO.com. According to this article, only seventy percent of the funds raised would go to public education. A full one hundred and twenty million dollars goes to fill the coffers of the higher education budget. Fifty million dollars goes to the Department of Education for early learning opportunities and a mere twenty million dollars would go to increase work force readiness. That sure is a slap in the face to the work force. One would also think that with steady increase in enrollment and drastic increases in cost of higher education that the one hundred and twenty million dollars there could be better spent elsewhere.

The next article we found was this Proposal to Increase Oklahoma Sales Tax is Constitutional - TaxRates.com. We expected this organization to put this out. They are a left wing think tank who feels that any and all taxes are good for the people. They are your basic tax and spend liberals.

The next article of interest we found was this Oklahoma Supreme Court OKs vote on penny education tax - Norman Transcript: Education. We expected this article from the Norman Transcript. They are as liberal as the University of Oklahoma itself. You could almost say that this is a brag sheet.

The conclusion is that Mr. Boren and his crew jumped too soon. They failed to allow the legislature to address the tax credits that have run way pass their limits and have failed to seek redress through this option first. They also failed to take into consideration the effect the tax increase would have on the ability of the state to attract new business to the state and would indeed have the effect of driving some businesses out. Tax and spend liberals and lack of forethought are no reason to subject the state of Oklahoma and the Citizens of this state to the suffering this tax increase would cause. We urge all not to sign the petition. We urge the legislature to significantly cut the tax credits afforded companies in this state. We urge the legislature to do their jobs for the Citizens of Oklahoma not the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce. We can no longer afford to give away five billion dollars a year.
