Ephesians 1:22-23 He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
I BELIEVE HE SITTETH ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD THE FATHER ALMIGHTY
After Jesus' resurrection from the dead, His work of redemption on our behalf was complete. After further enlightening His disciples about His work and their mission for a period of forty days, He returned to heaven where He received what He had temporarily given up to accomplish our salvation and which was rightfully His -- power over all things!
Jesus was reseated in heaven where He was placed "far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come" (Eph 1:21). Jesus has defeated sin, death and Satan, and there is nothing which can oppose His power. Yet the Church of God here on earth continues to face many difficulties both from within and from without. We each have our own problems and weaknesses, and we need the strength which God supplies to us through His Gospel. When we feel like all is lost in this battle, remember Jesus' words to Peter, "on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18). God has exceedingly great power over all things, and His power in the Gospel is used for the good of His Church.
Jesus told his disciples, "I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2). Jesus' ascension into heaven and being seated at the right hand of the Father was also necessary so that He might prepare a place for us in His Father's house. Our Savior remains living and active as He continues still today to prepare a place for every one who believes in Him. Jesus is doing that even now as He sits at the right hand of His Father, guiding and directing our lives, and leading us to the eternal abode that He has purchased for us with His very own blood! May we ever trust in the exceeding greatness of Jesus' power which through the Gospel has brought about our salvation as sinners and which gives us confidence in our eternal inheritance. Thanks be to God!
