Colossians 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set you mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
SET YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE
The Lord reminds us here that since the real you is the new man, and your real life is the new life that Christ has won for you: Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Look ahead to what is truly real and what will last. Don't cling to this life. This isn't your home. Don't get too comfortable here and engage all your energy in this life. Consider the newness of heaven, and set your mind on things above.
That is where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. The Lord set the pattern by His death, resurrection, and ascension. That is where you will follow as well. By God's almighty power and love you have been given a new life. On your own you could never be pure, but called you to be His own and set you apart from this world doomed to destruction, and is directing you to what is new and everlasting. Set your mind on things above. Be willing to leave behind the old. Don't be like Lot's wife longingly looking back at what is being destroyed. Look up and look ahead.
