It's About Thyme: A New Home!

After many months of searching and speculation, we are excited
to announce our move to a beautiful new 4.6 acre location that's
just a 4 minute drive from our current address (writes Darrel Mayers).

The new nursery will open in May 2016 at Bliss Spillar Road and
FM 1626 in Manchaca. (Until then we will continue as usual at
our present location.)

At the new property there are going to be 200+ olive trees, 7 green-
houses, 3 long rows of display beds at the front of the property, a
small vineyard, a fountain, the model railway, an edible forest of
peaches, pears, plums and apples, a rainwater collection system,
and an additional 1.6 acre  working vegetable garden in the back
of the lot. Behind all of this sits a beautiful pond.

'This is going to be a new beginning for us,' said nursery owner
Diane Winslow on Tuesday.  'And while there's a huge amount of
work ahead of us, we know that we're working towards   something
truly special.'  Diane designed the lay-out of the new nursery.

Winslow Pond: earlier this week Chris visited this beautiful pond which sits at the back of
the property of the new nursery.

One of the most unique aspects of the new nursery is the location.

It's going to sit just across the road from the Marbridge Foundation –
a progressive college-like campus for developmentally disabled
adults. The plan is for the folks from the Foundation to work in
the vegetable gardens, and sell their produce from a farm stand on
the property.

All of this will feel somewhat familiar to co-owner Chris Winslow –
who was the manager of the Marbridge Foundation nursery from
1972 to 1998.

'It's coming full circle for me!' jokes Chris. 'I'm going to be extrem-
ely happy to be back on my old stomping grounds.'

For many years the nursery has been an advocate of horticultural
therapy - where people work with plants and perform garden acti-
vities to improve their bodies, minds, and spirits. Each week we
have   students from Bowie, Akins and Hays high schools, and the
Clifton Center visiting the nursery.

Comments Diane: 'We're delighted to be expanding this program.
It's our way of giving back to the community… and adding the
Marbridge residents into the mix in such a big way is just going
to be fantastic.'

Diane and Chris send their heartfelt thanks to all the customers for
'hanging in there' with unfaltering support – and for the many
suggestions of places that the nursery could re-locate to.

They are also profoundly grateful to James Stacey and all on the
Marbridge board of directors for the invitation to relocate on a
property right next door to the Foundation.
