COMPETITION: WIN signed Derek the Sheep books

We interviewed the really rather handsome Derek the Sheep (featured in our banner) in our last newsletter. You can see the whole thing on our blog here.

To go with this we've got five signed copies of the entirely baaaaaarmy Derek the Sheep book to give away. Tales of the outstanding ovine fellow and his fabulous farmyard chums which will have you snickering while you stitch this Christmas.

The lovely Gary Northfield will sign and personalise them with a lovely picture just for you or whoever you intend to give the book to. (It's the only way he can get us to release him from the S&B London cellar).

All you need to do is answer this question:

Which animal does wool come from?
a. Angry ravenous grizzly bears.
b. Bugblatter Beasts of Traal.
c. Lovely lovely sheep.

Drop us an email at stitchettes@stitchandbitchlondon.co.uk with:
  • The subject line "I wish Derek the Sheep was my boyfriend"
  • Answer A, B or C
  • Your full name, email address, and contact phone number (if you have one)
The deadline for the competition is Monday 14th December at 10am. The 5 winners will be picked (by our Derek himself if we can get him to come back) from all correct entries, and notified by email within 48 hours.

Please note: Offering to wine, dine and woo the handsome Derek will not help you win his book. Just pick your answer, email us and let Derek do his choosing thing. Good luck!

If you don't win the book you can buy it here. It's ever so sheepy. Perfect present for a nutty knitter.

Competition rules: 1. One entry per person. 2. Competition ends Monday the 14th December 2009 at 10am. 4. Winners will be drawn from all correct answers, and notified within 48 hours via email. 5. If winners don’t reply with addresses within two weeks of closing date then new winners will be chosen. 5. No cash alternatives. 6. Books can be collected from us or will be posted to the winner.

Stitch and Stitching Secret Santa

Do you ever feel envious of those lucky, lucky recipients of the carefully knitted gifts that you give them? Do you secretly wish that you could have something soft and woolly and handmade to open? Well, here’s your chance.

If you don't have time to knit then handmake something quicker. As long as it's handmade it's worthy of passing onto your fellow S&B Londoners.

There is no limit to secret santa subjects. We’ve had gorgeous gloves, dinosaur stockings (stockings with dinosaurs on, not a sock of dinosaurs!), pots of peeping posies, silky scarves, adorable armwarmers, and even a special Santa.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is:
    1.    Make one present.
    2.    Your present should cost approximately £5.
    3.    Your present can be ANYTHING, as long as it’s knitted or crocheted or handmade.
    4.    You must make your present before the S&B London Christmas Party.
    5.    Turn up at the S&B London Christmas Party with some Christmas cheer and your present wrapped up.

    6.    Place your Secret Santa present in the magic sack.
    7.    At present-giving time pick a gift from the magic sack.
    8.    Open your present and squeak with excitement.
    9.    Model your present proudly for the rest of the night looking a bit smug
    10.    Eat (cake), drink (insert booze of choice here) and be merry.

If you need ideas to get you started, there are plenty of ideas from the last few years in our flickr group or our 2007 Party set.

Remember, your gift is completely anonymous (unless you start pointing and saying “I made that!”) and it doesn’t have to be anything complicated – all gifts are valued equally.

There’s only three knitting days till the Christmas Party! Arrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh!

If you're new to S&B London and you want to see the last newsletter you can click here. Learner lessons will resume next year as S&B London takes a break over Christmas to get that Christmas knitting done and eat lots.

We can't wait to see your Stitching Secret Santa goodies and we're ever so very excited about handing out all those lovely prizes and raising lots of money for Treaure Trove.

See you for some smooching under the mistletoe, London.
