GPS welcomes 15-time Grammy winning Producer, Mixer and Songwriter Thom Russo to the Roster

GPS is very pleased to announce the signing of Los Angeles based producer, mixer and songwriter Thom Russo. With 15 Grammy Awards to his name, Russo's discography reads as a who's-who list of the music industry, including a wide array of artists from Audioslave, Jay-Z, Michael Jackson, Enrique Iglesias, Mana, Eric Clapton, Tony Bennett, Macy Gray, to Huecco, Juanes, Alejandro Sanz and Aterciopelados. Thom Russo's diversity and flexibility has become his hallmark.


Originally from Cleveland OH, Russo studied percussion and music theory at Northwestern University in Chicago. His career rapidly accelerated in the 90s while working at the famed Larrabee Sound Studios. There, he engineered and mixed vocals for Michael Jackson's album "Dangerous" (1991), worked on Bobby Brown's "Bobby" (1992), Toto's "Kingdom of Desire" (1993), Diana Ross's "Take Me Higher" (1995), Paula Abdul's "Head Over Heels" (1995) and Baby Face's "The Day" (1996). Russo went on to work consistently with Babyface, the first of several legendary mentors across different genres. He won his first Grammys for his work with Babyface on Eric Clapton's "Change the World" which took both Record and Song of the Year (1997). Thom Russo has since won 14 Grammy awards including Best Rock Album & Best Engineered Album 2011 (Mana - "Drama Y Luz"), Record of the Year in 2008 (Juanes - "Me Enamora") and Best Latin Pop Album in 2007 (Alejandro Sanz - "El Tren De Los Momentos") to name a few.

Russo's subsequent work with Latin rock superstar Juanes marked the beginning of a long string of Latin rock hits. Thom has continued to work with powerhouse artists all over the latin world including Mana, Cristian Castro, Ely Guerra, and indie critic favorites Kinky (Mexico), Alejandro Sanz, Sueno del Morfeo and cutting edge flamenco-hardcore artist Huecco (Spain), Aterciopelados (Colombia), La Ley (Chile), and Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas and Diego Torres (Argentina). From 2002 through 2007, Russo engineered and mixed numerous Rick Rubin produced records including Macy Gray's "The Id" (2001), Audioslave's self-titled debut album (2002), System of a Down's "Steal This Album!" (2002), Johnny Cash's "Man Comes Around" (2002), Joe Strummer's "Streetcore" (2003), Macy Gray's "Trouble with Being Myself" (2003), and Audioslave's US #1 Platinum selling album "Out of Exile" (2006). In 2009 Russo completed the sophomore release for the Mexican / Anglo superstars and Grammy winners Jesse and Joy. He continued to work on a range of critically acclaimed work including Colbie Caillat's 2 x Platiunum album "Coco" (2007), Michael Jackson's "King of Pop" (2008), Huecco's "Assalto" (2008), Tom Morello's "World Wide Rebel Songs" (2011), and Mana's multiple-Grammy winning "Amar es Combatir," multiple-Grammy winning "Drama y Luz" (2011) and "Exiliados en la Bahia: Lo Mejor de Mana" (2012). Thom Russo is currently producing, engineering and mixing Los Claxon's forthcoming album.
