NEWS FOR CAT LOVERS
===================================
Now here's a job well suited for cats: Museum guards!
65 cats make sure the collections are safe from nibbling
by mice and rats. Great idea!

Thanks to Maggie for sharing this story!
---------------------------
First the city imports some cats to control the rats,
then they decide to convene a commission to see if they
are now a health risk.
About 120 cats live in a city park in Lima, Peru, most
descended from those first few cats in 1990. Most are also
looked after by concerned locals who take them in for
veterinary care and others make sure they are fed.
In a country that eats cats, those who care about them
are trying to protect these cats. Read more....

CAT FOOD NEWS
===================================
Do you know where your cat's food ranks?
This site rates many of the foods found in stores.
Just be aware that this is not written by an expert,
and some of the information may not be 100% correct.
Think of it as a guideline, and not the final authority
on the foods listed.

------------------------------
Just to let you know: I ordered a product called
Meow Organic on June 8 this year, and have yet to
receive all of it. My bad. I should not have ordered
more than a small bag of it to see if the cats would
even eat it. Unfortunately, not one cat here likes it.
Also unfortunately, the company won't refund the rest
of my order, even though it has not been sent yet.
So, just a warning to stay away from Pugzbrand.com.
The food is safe and healthy, but obviously not tasty.
Worse, the service from the company is lousy.
(I have been sneaking small amounts of it into the dogs'
bowls, but they look at me like I'm trying to poison
them.)

Help Feed Shelter Animals
Don't forget to visit these sites as often as you can and
click on the shelter-feed links. There is no cost to you
to do this, but it can only be done once per day.

WEBSITES FOR CAT LOVERS
===================================
If you ever need to advertise a lost or found pet, or
promote one for adoption, this is a great site to use
to create nice-looking flyers:
http://petbond.com/flyerentry.php
I've mentioned them before, but it's been a long time
and I had forgotten about them.
I will probably put a permanent link to their page on my
website so the information is always available.
Be sure to visit their adoption pages, too. In fact,
they also have a free service that allows people to
list their adoptable pets on their site.
----------------------------
I hate to sound like a broken record (does anyone
these days even know what that is?), but I have to
add another comment about the Best Yet spray that is
available at cedarcidestore.com. It is not only 100%
effective against insects of all kinds, it's also 100%
safe to use around people, pets and yes.... even food!
This is what my good friend Olga told me:
"We bought the Cedarcide product, Best Yet, and it
really works! We reordered."
www.cedarcidestore.com/best_yet_cats.html
(Too bad the company doesn't have an affiliate program.
I think I could sell a lot of this stuff! But I'm happy
to recommend it anyway, even if I don't get a commission.
It's good to find a product that actually lives up to the
promises and won't hurt my family.)

TAKE ACTION TO HELP ANIMALS IN NEED
===================================
How to help animals:
1. http://www.hipaws.com/help.html
Help feed the ones that never got adopted.
2. Always remember to check with your local shelter
to see what they need. Your donation will go directly
to the animals, in sharp contrast to some of the large
national groups, whose donation income goes toward
large administrative salaries and other expenses, not
necessarily for animals. That said, there is one large
sanctuary I do endorse: http://www.deltarescue.org.
