September 2016 Newsletter, New Moon Outlook & Video Horoscopes

We have quite an astrological doozy this month, with two powerful eclipses, a Blue Moon (3rd lunation in one month) Saturn square Neptune, The Fall Equinox, and to top it off, Mercury is retrograde for most of September. As you can see we are in for some major challenges in September. The astrological picture for this month starts off with the New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Virgo on September 1st, which plants the seeds of a power-packed month to come. And that promise will be more than fulfilled as we fast approach the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on September 16th, followed by the Autumn Equinox on September 22nd.

The New Moon in Virgo symbolizes separating the wheat from the chaff. This is a month to be particularly discriminating about what ideas, information, and values you allow into your life, for Virgo is a very practical sign. It’s not only about criticizing what we don’t like, it’s about figuring out what you do want and then taking the responsibility to manifest it in your life. If you don’t, someone else will step in to fill the void and take that choice away. The sign of Virgo represents of Mother Earth, shifting our focus to practical matters, especially in relation to our bodies, our health, our Earth, and how we are caretaking or squandering our energy and our resources.

On a psychological level, this is a great time to create boundaries for ourselves. This lunation is about “weeding out” toxic people, places, and things from our lives. If an old habit has become burdensome, let it go! Virgo encourages purity in mind, body and spirit. It discourages co-dependent behavior. If your environment is toxic, do something to clean it up. If your relationships are toxic, see where you can “clean them up”. Take practical action, and take responsibility for yourself. It will do a lot of good for your Spirit! The main aspect during this Solar Eclipse is the Saturn Square Neptune which has proven to have been an extremely influential cosmic force during the past few months.

You can try to ‘rise above the 3D’ and take a spiritual stance. But since we are stuck on this planet, boundaries are an issue and war is being fought on a physical level as well as the mental. It is very tempting to spiritually-bypass our current reality, but if we believe we are on this planet for a purpose, we will have to get our hands dirty. Saturn square Neptune then is a perfect symbol of the conflict between Neptunian idealism, empathy, compassion, versus the despised, realistic, and restrictive control that Saturn represents. Despite this serious deception aspect of Saturn square Neptune, we must not lose sight of the great manifestation and imaginative option of this Solar Eclipse, for Eclipses are larger doorways of opportunity and transformation.

Now, while all this regenerative energy is being activated by the New Moon this month, another underlying factor is taking place, Mercury is retrograding through Virgo. The messenger planet went retrograde last month on August 30th and will continue its backward motion until September 22nd. Mercury rules Virgo, so right away Mercury is in a strong position. However, this retrograde period is a wee bit more unpredictable since we have the dreaded Saturn square Neptune in the background which peaks on September 10th. Not only will we be pulled into the past, but we may find ourselves in “no-man’s land” unable to make a decisive decision about what we want.

On September 9th, the great benefactor, Jupiter, makes its way into peace-loving Libra. Libra is the sign of social conscience, balance, partnerships and idealism. And Jupiter shows us the way to grow beyond false divisions that keep us in a state of conflict. Jupiter will operate in Libra from September 9th, 2016 through October 10th, 2017 , which means we’ll have over a year to embrace this lucky love transit. The energy in play will help manifest love, luck and cooperation much more abundantly. People are going to be more in the mood to connect. They will want to work in partnerships rather than fly solo. It will also help those struggling in relationships. Perhaps you’ve been thinking of jumping ship with a particular relationship. If you’re serious about making it work then this shift can help you. Libra also likes commitment.

Libra likes to work through problems, finding ways to compromise and balance things out. It doesn’t say, forget it I’m done. This is the sign that truly sees value and worth in cooperation. It will also push people to actually want to be around others. Right now, luck is pushing people to take care of business most often alone (Jupiter in Virgo). But this will not always be the case. Libra wants a partner and believes in partnerships. As Jupiter moves through Libra, we increasingly find meaning in sharing our lives with others. Art, beauty and romance play an important role in bringing harmony into our lives. By the end of Jupiter's stay in Libra, we will probably be tired of looking at all the different sides of things and just wish someone would make a decision.

On September 16th, the second eclipse of the month takes place in the watery realm of Pisces. This lunation will be a Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse bringing with the power of closure and endings. This will be a Harvest Moon indicating that it’s time to “reap what we sow”. The sign of Pisces is the sign that rules Neptune, and is associated with the great cosmic ocean of life, the collective karma, spiritualism, compassion, Christ consciousness, art, music, mysticism, physics, and psychic healing. The shadow side of Pisces brings up victimization, collective fears, escapism, spiritual fog, chaos, religious bigotry and self-loathing. This Lunar Eclipse can also be seen as an emotional adjustment cycle.

As the Sun opposite Moon qualities of emotions and instincts reach their peak at this Lunar Eclipse, an objective and balanced look at personal relationships is possible. Being in touch with your own needs and intentions, and those of others, you can clearly see any relationship imbalances causing disharmony. With this Lunar Eclipse in particular, the blotting out of the Moon represents a resetting of emotions, clearing away the emotional baggage of the previous six months.

This Full Moon Eclipse acts as a counterbalance to the September 1st Solar Eclipse. Together they make up an eclipse phase which will last into February 2017. The major aspect to this Lunar Eclipse will be a square to action-oriented Mars which means you have had enough of the fear mongering, lies and propaganda from the past. You will feel like it’s time to fight back against a year of worry, guilt and depression caused by the Saturn-Neptune square.

The cosmic tide begins to shift on September 22nd as the Sun enters Libra, the day of the Autumnal Equinox, when the Sun is half way around the zodiac and the days and nights are equal. There is as much of the journey left as has already been traveled. We can look as far into the past as we can into the future. Libra, sign of the scales is all about weighing and balancing everything to insure equality and fairness. During this month, our efforts are focused on creating and maintaining harmony – in our surroundings, in our relationships, in our words and deeds. To that end, we avoid confrontations, we look at both sides of every issue, and above all, the colors have to match.

The following day, our desires and passion increase as Venus enters intense Scorpio. Venus transiting Scorpio is perhaps one of the most sensuous of all planetary placements. Here our Lady of Love is more than at home giving physical expression to her deeply felt emotions. To pet and be petted is an absolute requirement. Scorpio is a fixed water sign, so when our feelings of love get combined with that energy, you can expect a pretty permanent attachment. Total obsession is more like it. All is well as long as the object of our affections returns the feelings with the same level of intensity. If they slack off just a bit, those amorous attentions can just as easily turn into jealousy and resentment. Venus in Scorpio does not let go easily, physically or emotionally.

We become more serious about taking care of business on September 27th when ambitious Mars enters get-r-done Capricorn. While Mars visits Capricorn we should really be able to put some steam into completing projects; not only getting it done, but being able to get our plans in order so we know what we're doing. The strong, assertive energy of Mars is quite solid, directed, and comfortable in the sign of Capricorn. Capricorn means business with feet well-placed on the ground. It will have none of this scattered, running around from our man-child Mars.

Finally, we have another New Moon this month, which is also called a Blue Moon. This one will occur in the sign of Libra on September 30th. This New Moon brings fresh and creative energy into our lives, and more specifically, into our relationships. When the Sun and the Moon align in Libra it offers us an opportunity to experience the yin and yang energy that is brought together. We have a chance to come to agreements with ourselves and with others. This New Moon is about creative harmony. This is a vital, dynamic time when we thrive on progress and activity, as well as lively, creative, and sexual energy.

Our creativity and desire to make something beautiful is stimulated now. Social relations are impassioned and perhaps demanding as well. We may also feel compelled to do something creative or artistic. In some cases this impulsive energy generates “love at first sight” scenarios. Team work is more successful now and in the weeks to come. Some level of competition is present in our interactions, but it’s likely of a pleasurable and gently challenging kind.
