KINESTHETIC FURNITURE @ KBCS!

With funding from the KBCS PTA and the Village of Key Biscayne directed by the Key Biscayne Education Advisory Board, Mrs. Tarafa has been able to order multiple components of kinesthetic furniture to spread through out KBCS classrooms.
Kinesthetic furniture is furniture that provides movement with in a student's work station, allowing them to be more active learners. This innovative decision by our administration is in line with a nationwide trend using movement at student desks to increase concentration during the school day. Purchases this year include a stand up desk with kick lever, cycle pedal stations, chair bands and more.

We look forward to seeing the positive effect these items have on our students and classrooms!

Field Day runs March 20-23rd!!

Field Day week is one of the most fun times of the whole school year! Each day that week a group of grades goes to the Village Green to play field games like relay races and tug of war with the PE coaches.

T 3/21: 4th & 5th
W 3/22: PreK, K & 1st

WITS GREEN LABS

Feb. 27 - Mar. 17
NOW ALL KBK8 CLASSES WILL PARTICIPATE!

Exciting news for WITS LABS- both remaining labs of the school year - GREENS & POTATOES - will run for three weeks, ensuring that all students at KBK-8 get a chance to partake from now on! The third set of WITS LABS- GREENS started on Monday, February 27th and teaches children how to make healthy salad dressings and dips from scratch. A small miracle has happened- students have been eating all of the spinach in the cooking classes!

WITS LAB Potatoes will be the last cooking lab and is scheduled to take place in May. Chef Laura is also running WITS BITS (20 minute nutritional classes) in between LABS. WITS BITS run on a sign up basis for classrooms- so check with your teachers to see if they have signed up!

SUPPORT STAFF DAY is a special day at KBCS. On this day we recognize the awesome "heroes" who work hard to support our school every day, often without much recognition. Support staff includes cafeteria staff, security personnel, custodial staff and cross guards. Their dedication is an important part of our children feeling safe and cared for while at school.  One way the KBCS community shows our gratitude is by having students place "Thank You" stickers on support staff team members throughout the day.
