Ephesians 3:14-16 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.
GIFT SUGGESTIONS TO THE FATHER
In the musical "The Music Man" there is a number called "The Wells Fargo Wagon". In this song, the townspeople of Gary, Indiana sing about the excitement of seeing the Wells Fargo Wagon coming down the street. This was exciting because Wells Fargo used to deliver packages and you never knew when the wagon might have something for you.
The Wells Fargo Company stopped delivering packages for people in 1918, but the excitement of receiving something in the mail has remained the same.
In our reading for today, Paul speaks of a package which had been ordered for the Christians living in the city of Ephesus. Paul had requested this package through prayer. And forget the Wells Fargo Wagon -- this package was to be delivered by God Himself.
My wife writes birthdays on our calendar in the kitchen so we remember when to send gifts. But what if we sent a prayer package for those people on the calendar instead of a package sent in the U.S. mail? We wouldn't get a thank you note, but we just might end up anonymously sending the greatest gifts ever received. Our prayers for one another are gift suggestions to God the Father, and He certainly knows how to give good gifts.
