Hello, Firstname

Wednesday 13 November

On Wednesday 13 November we are being treated to not one but two speakers, when we will be visited by Sue and Bob Moore; they will be presenting their talk called Even Moore and Moore Prints. Whilst we have been treated to some extremely good speakers of late, this is definitely not an evening to miss, with both Sue and Bob holding a fistful of photographic distinctions.

DI Group
The monthly meeting of the DI Group takes place next Monday, 11 November. Ashwin is still away in India visiting his family and won't return to these shores until late on Monday. Mike Bigger and Jeff Hargreaves have both agreed to step into the breach and run the evening between them, so please come along to support them. The meeting will be chaired by Jeff, ably assisted by Mike. As usual all members are welcome especially if you bring along some images to present to the members. You may bring prints or images on a memory stick in jpg format, sRGB colour space, any size, in a folder of your name. It is also a chance to ask for comments on your work or advice on digital matters.
And there's no need to panic, Ashwin has let Jeff & Mike into the secret and told them where the chocolate biscuits are hidden!

Trumpet Blowers' Special!
Just when you think that no-one at BPS has gained major distinctions for ages, two come along at once. Sue O'Connell has been awarded a Fellowship of the Irish Photographic Federation and should now be addressed (after a suitable genuflect) with the title Sue O'Connell FIPF. Not to be outdone, Mike Martin has also travelled to foreign climes to gain his distinction - he has been awarded an Associateship of the Welsh Photographic Federation and should be similarly bowed before and addressed as Mike Martin AWPF

Well done to both, below are thumbnail layouts of their submissions:

Covering the fundamentals of mirrorless cinematography to some more complex shooting techniques, Jim will be on hand to ensure you capture great footage throughout the day.

Friday 6 December, 11:00am – 3:00pm   £50
Join Esther Ling as she explores the secrets of food photography when working commercially, with this Christmas edition of shooting food for advertisement. The methodology behind setting up efficient shoots has been set up over many years to ensure photographers are able to capture mouth-watering images that delight the customer and exaggerate the real product to have maximum engagement.
From potato substituted for ice cream, to painted raw turkeys, images of food have been tampered with throughout the industry for years. Esther will show you the best way to work and help you with gaining portfolio shots for when you work on the real thing and how to ensure you are prepared for working commercially at Christmas. We will have a full set up for you

Wild Arena|Macro moth photography Canon
Tuesday 10 December, 10am - 1pm OR 2pm - 5pm £30
These nocturnal creatures are a great way to learn macro-wildlife photography.
During the workshop, Wild Arena will present and demonstrate the fundamentals of macro photography and capturing stunning shots of wildlife close up.

We will cover a variety of topics including:
  • The choice & use of macro lenses
  • Keeping things in focus
  • The creative use of depth-of-field
  • Managing movement in the images with shutter speeds.
You will then have the chance to put these techniques into practice and get up close and capture these intricate insects. The moths will be displayed under photographic lighting and woodland dioramas, creating a real-world look indoors.
The sessions are ideally suited to customers using DSLR/Mirrorless cameras and we usually have some demonstration lenses available to try out on the day if you do not already own one.
With group sizes of a maximum of 12 delegates and the convenient and comfortable setting of Unit13, these days are great value for those photographers wishing to develop their skills in macro and close-up.
